In the wake of 9/11, the Bush administration struggled to define the enemy and to decide how to defeat it.
Even though 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis and the Saudis were involved in the planning and financing of the attack, President Bush allowed the Saudis to fly out of the country in the next 24 hours when all other air traffic had been shut down.
No doubt that Bush had decided to maintain good relations with the Arabs, and Saudi Arabia particularly, just as the US had done for half a century. This policy led Bush to say on Sept 17, 2011 to the Islamic world,
âThe face of terror is not the true faith of Islam. That's not what Islam is all about. Islam is peace. These terrorists don't represent peace. They represent evil and war,â in a speech as sycophantic as any President Obama has ever delivered.
On a different policy tack, Bush said on the evening of 9/11, âWe will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them.â
On Sept 20/11 Bush spoke to the Joint Houses Congress emphasizing both tacks:
"The enemy of America is not our many Muslim friends. It is not our many Arab friends. Our enemy is a radical network of terrorists and every government that supports them.
"â¦any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime."

The only legitimate aim of the War in Iraq would have been the establishment of a permanent and large American military base in Iraq with a corridor to another American military base at the port of Basra. The rest of the ME should have been ignored except as it impinged on our presence in Iraq. We would then have appropriated the oilfields to finance it all. The ME would be much more stable had we done that and Russia would not be present beyond their long standing base in Syria. Israel would be protected by our mere presence and would be of reduced political consideration because of that.
Our decievers the saudis
Iraq was a war to keep Iran in check. Obamuzzie f’d it all up ...
> Our decievers the saudis
Add to that the MSM and the current regime in the WH
Yep. With Iraq and Afghaninstan, the Iranians would have been boxed in.
Sounds like he summed up our immigration policy back then!
Thank you Dub!
That would not have fixed the additional problem of SA very aggressively exporting Whabbism.

I realize now that the Bushes hurt America in ways most of us cannot yet fathom.
They sold us out so as to line their pockets with Saudi gold.
I think folks are waking up to their treason, hence the utter refusal to even consider Yeb.
Well we shouldn’t have had Saddam killed then. It seems Bush & Obama both wanted Iran strengthened, given out actions.
Do some research on Ahmed Chalabi and: (1) his relationship with important figures in the Bush Administration prior to the invasion of Iraq in 2003, and (2) his role in the Iraqi government after the U.S. toppled Saddam Hussein's Ba'athist government.
Personally, I think the Bush administration was filled with Iranian moles like this guy. If the leadership of Iran put together a strategy to establish itself as a regional power in the Middle East, it couldn't come up with a better plan than the one the Bush administration executed from 2003 onward.
Agree completely. With the passage of time, and the absurd new alliances formed to destroy Trump, it becomes clearer every day. I used to laugh at conspiracy theorists. I’m not laughing any more.
There’s a fine line between “ conspiracy theory” and “little known truth”.
Our deceivers ourselves, and to this day.
We had them surrounded and let them go.
Seems nobody plays 'Risk' anymore.
Don’t people ever get tired of bashing Bush .. I mean really ..??
We have a horrible person as president, because the DemocRATS were able to hide all the bad info about him .. and his presidency has been one disaster after another, as well as a total bungling of Iraq and Afghanistan ..
But the only person to target is GW Bush ..?? Really ..??
