It was the Detroit News headline "Trump goes after Ford Motor Co." not how long Hillary went overtime in the restroom that got our attention. Donald Trump made a whistle stop outside Grand Rapids, Michigan to take aim at Ford’s plans to expand production in Mexico. Trump promised if elected he would threaten manufacturers with big tariffs on imports to discourage building manufacturing plants south of the border.
Trump to Ford, "If you build that plant in Mexico, I’m going to charge you 35 percent on every car, truck part that you send into our country," he said. "Every single one." Trump went further saying he would engage in tough negotiations with car companies to build new plants in the US and Michigan. Political analysts say Trump’s proposal would at the very minimum require congressional approval and possibly violate NAFTA.

Ah, so just like some others, you’ve decided to just go full on with this “us vs. them” mentality when presumably, though there may indeed be some who aren’t and who want to stir up conflict, we’re all at least, by our own claim and reasoning, conservatives here.

You’re never going to see me (hopefully) purposefully ruining Trump threads, even when I think the worship of him in them is inane and crosses some lines of appropriateness and common sense. If people want to proclaim Trump from the streets, let them proclaim Trump from the streets. I don’t particularly care. As I keep saying, no one’s mind is usually changed by what someone else says around here anyway.
I’ll respond to a subject or to a person if I am genuinely curious to hear more from them or if I think (TO ME) they are making a point that is just so inappropriate or so illogical that I can’t hold back. Even though, I try to be willing to let them explain themself.
But then it seems, some people would rather play the childish, “my team vs. your team” stuff. Lovely. The conservative “party” or the conservative belief could be ripped to shreds over such games at this rate.

I think a company that clears almost 8 super dooper large per year can make their product here. It isn’t really asking too much.
One other big cost of products is regulatory costs and simply the hassle of all the red tape. In the US you no longer run your own business - you’re just an employer of the regulators. They tell you how you should run your place, how much to pay the employees what birth control you have to provide for them...
Who doesn’t want to escape that crap.
That’s the bottom line point people miss. People need to slow down and rationally think things through - Trump obviously has.

The Founders agree with Trump. They believed in tariffs.
If they want to play in our economy, then they should pay. It’s the best market in the world, so ‘pay to play’ would be my motto.
Don’t bore me with ‘trade war’ and ‘retaliation’ answers. We ALREADY are subject to prejudicial actions against our products in other countries.
Besides, I’d rather be self-sustaining, and it is a matter of national security to be self-sustaining.

This is a no brainer. Decrease the corporate tax to zero, yes I said zero, and watch what happens. Just like eliminating the minimum wage at the federal level. Stand back and watch what happens.

Well that’s all well and good.
But you’re going to have to fill me in on how exactly that applies to threatening corporations that send any business overseas.
I guess maybe I can connect the dots a little bit. Something along the lines of other nations manipulate their currency to give them an unfair advantage, our companies and corporations are attracted by that, send some production overseas, benefit themselves greatly, but harm American workers in the process.
I don’t know how close I am to Trump’s philosophy on that. But while that all sounds well and good, and while this isn’t something that I’ve taken the time to be an expert on, I am at least aware that Smoot-Hawley didn’t do the country any favors in the 30’s, I also think that much like it would be hard to turn our foreign policy into one of a more isolationist one(which I don’t know how many people advocate for here anyway) immediately, it would also at this point, in the short term, perhaps harm us more than Trump or anyone supporting him might imagine to go more protectionist in our trade and export/import policies immediately.
Besides, perhaps one of the reasons that I am drawn to Cruz aside from the social conservative aspect and aside from the constitutional aspect as I can appreciate someone who understands and tries to articulate we have to do A before we can even begin to discuss or do B.
We have to close and secure the border before we figure out what to do with the illegals here in the meantime. And, in my opinion, we have to get back to encouraging and building a more dynamic, growth oriented, business and investment friendly country before we start worrying about tariffs on any corporations that want to outsource anything overseas.
Reducing the corporate tax to zero would have no effect on off shoring. The ‘corps’ are off shoring to exploit the wage differential between a first world county and those of countries where a bulk of their citizenry live in abject poverty.

This is why patriots need to support Trump, or whatever conservative that they elect, with a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress, a Congress that will work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to support Trump.
No, I can’t see a downside.
Is there a downside to prioritizing the rolling back of taxes, regulations, and making America more competitive and attractive that way, and actually INCENTIVIZING businesses to keep production within our borders?
I’m not saying Trump doesn’t believe in that or doesn’t want to do that. I’m just saying it seems to me that should be the first priority of any conservative Republican.
You’re never going to stop other countries from manipulating their currency if they choose to do so. Or at least it would be a rather difficult process to achieve.
But in terms of convincing, what’s the downside to having a reasoned policy in which you sit down with people, you can sit down with policy wonks, you can sit down with CEO’s, and you can discuss what the greatest challenges and the greatest obstacles to keeping businesses and jobs here in America? Kind of a “Why are you outsourcing your business overseas and how can we make keeping it here in America more appealing to you?”
Now I think a lot of us know the answer to that. Currency manipulation by other countries, I’m not ruling that out. But a lot of it comes down to our own government policies making it more attractive to look overseas with or without currency manipulation by other nations.
I’m just of the mindset of get government out of the way, get back to making America the most business friendly, enterprising encouraging nation on the face of the earth, and THEN shake your fist at anyone who that isn’t good enough for- although I again would prefer to keep government out of it as much as possible altogether.
