In a Tuesday morning interview with radio host Bill Bennett, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)56% defended his omnibus bill's controversial expansion in the H-2B visa program, which would allow foreign workers to fill blue-collar American jobs, by arguing that if the provision were not included, American companies would be forced to shut their doors.
Bennett pressed Ryan on the details of the H-2B visa expansion, slipped 700-pages into Ryan's 2,009-page omnibus spending bill-asking Ryan directly, "Do you believe there are not enough Americans to fill these jobs?"
In response, Ryan described the H-2B visa expansion as "a very small, discrete provision."
Despite the nation's high levels of unemployment and stagnating wages, Ryan continued on to assert, without offering evidence in support of his claim, that corporations are facing a shortage of labor, which rendered the provision necessary. Ryan said:
The reason that this was passed is because there was some seasonal surge jobs that they can't find local workers to fill, like the seafood packaging industry in Chesapeake Bay. You have seafood season, you need people to package those things, to can them. In the North, we have the summer tourism industry. What it is is there's seasonal industries where they can't find local people to do the jobs: kids are already in college or things like that where you have a surge in workers.

Sadly, most of the able-bodied women on welfare have ten kids and it would cost more to provide day-care. However, if there’s the odd one woman who is able-bodied and on welfare without numerous kids, sure.
He’s way more than a disappointment. He’s a mental case.
I dislike Ryan a lot. But just to set the record straight, employers have a hell of a time finding workers. I live in Wisconsin, just north of Wisconsin Dells, a huge tourist trap. Workers are paid $8 - $9 per hour, more than minimum wage ($7.25) for nonskilled employment. Restaurants, hotels, attractions etc. Employers here cannot find workers. Nobody wants to work for $8 - $9. Adams County lies about 15 minutes to the north of Wisconsin Dell and is full of unemployed, live off the government types. Until we crack down on those who don’t want to work, we will continue to take in those who do. It doesn’t sound right, but that’s the government merry go round we are spinning on.
Paul Ryan’s H2-B visa BS is nothing more than the cheap labor express at work. Its never ending with these RINO Aholes. Neverending. They just change the name of the game but its all the same. Cheap labor. He’s bought and paid for just like 95% of them are.
95 million people out of work and they can’t find a few to work the seasonal surge? Give me a break. They might have to pay a couple of bucks an hour higher that’s all.

Who is having the babies? They may be “American”, but I doubt they’re taxpayers. Here in the northeast the battle is between aging (often childless) whites who see no point in funding unproductive schools and the increasingly non-taxpaying voters filling the schools with children.
If they have to have foreign workers to operate, they’re obviously not ‘American’ companies.
2X.
These seasonal jobs Ryan is talking about are usually filled by women who don’t want to work all year around, but make enough money for their special projects and Christmas presents, etc. They look forward to this type of work and enjoy it. He’s pulling America’s leg with his statement.
Hit the nail. When Clinton signed Welfare Reform, the welfare rolls dropped by 50 percent. We need to do that again.
The welfare needs cutting, but the implied and probable ‘Rat goaded result of that will be several months of riots and hours after hours of media sob stories highlighted with teary eyed thin waifs starving from the actions of the cold hearted conservatives.
The quicker route will be currency collapse, which will be the end game somewhere along the line with continued inaction.
Absolutely a LIE! We don’t need foreigners here to take jobs away from our own people.
Leni
FYI Clinton signed welfare reform, but it actually started with Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson. We definitely need to get back to that.
BTTT
Republicans are cheap right now.
Hey Paulie, STFU!
