Donald Trump has a solution to the Miss Universe crown controversy: Share the wealth!
"What I would do is make them a co-winner, that would be very cool," the presidential candidate and former Miss Universe owner told Matt Lauer on the "Today" show Monday.
Pageant host Steve Harvey made an out-of-this-world blunder on Sunday night by mistakenly announcing Miss Colombia the winner -- before stripping her of the sash and tiara on live TV just minutes later to hand over the top prize to Miss Philippines, the true winner.
"What happened to the girl from Colombia is devastating," Trump told Lauer. "To give it to her for a couple of minutes and then take it away ... I would recommend that they go have a beautiful ceremony, which is good for the brand and good for Miss Universe, and do a co-winner. I think something like that could work."

Yeah, Participant Tiaras for all!!
I’m not sure about that.
Everyone knows she actually won. Everyone.
There will be no mistake she’s the actual winner. But this would do wonders for PR from the standpoint of the entire continent of South America.
Or Newman.
Attention! Attention! TDS alert!
Dude, lower your skirt - your desperation is showing!
It’s a beauty contest it has no bearing on anything just who got blessed with the best genetics and had the cash for the best plastic surgeon. The idea this was some conquest of a skills competition is laughable. Could give the crown to any of them and it makes no difference because it’s not something earned on talent or skill.
While the winner will personally milk it for income her entire life it really has no bearing on anything who wins. Who can honestly without using The Internet even name the previous winners. It’s an excuse to have attract women parade around to be ogled for ratings.
Its a Miss Universe pagent, let’s give them all 1st place prizes for the good PR of the Universe and all its inhabitants...we wouldn’t want to exclude and hurt the feelings of someone billions of light years away.
I think it was their "poison pill" to kill the whole deal.< /sarcasm>
ping for your list
Wasn't there a Paul Vega drafted by the Green Bay Packers a year or two back? I think he ended up on the practice squad and was later released.
Has "he" resurfaced here?
(Just kidding)
“...you would not cast pee-wee Herman as a president (not seriously)...”
Uh - how about Peewee Obama?
Sorry, but that was too good of an opening to resist!
Look at the form he was provided. It LOOKS like it gives the winner, but instead says “First Runner Up,” so it’s confusing. It’s posted on this thread.
That’s all you got? We’re talking about a Miss Universe pageant and that’s all you got...lol. Maybe you need to go discuss topics on your level...you know...playing with blocks and colored crayons.
HARVEY, YOU HAD *ONE JOB*!
Shortly after the Contest, an emotionally distraught Miss Columbia was seen leaving the Hotel in her 1996 Oldsmobile.
A competent organization would have had somebody put the guy through a rehearsal or two, until his handler was convinced he would do it right.
“The crazier thing, is that Perazz and Harvery had just mocked Trump (thankful he no longer owned the pageant), just minutes before. I guess Trump got the last laugh ...”
Seriously?!
Wow, this thing about what happens to those who take shots at ‘The Donald’ is beginning to take on new dimensions. Dissing Trump repeatedly proves to be disastrous career move.
Er, blockhead. The Donald was ASKED about it on the Today Show by Matt Lauer. He didn't inject himself into the situation.
Got a problem with the Donald, do ya?
So? I happen to like physically fit women, as long as it's not overdone. She's not guilty.
“Miss Columbia has to be tough and suck it up.”
I’ll be certain to remind you of that sentiment when Trump wins. Better start practicing that “suck it up” routine.
You’re right, Trump made an excellent suggestion and it would be a fair and equitable way to turn this PR-disaster around.
And just so no one misunderstands, I have no animus towards Steve Harvey at all, my comment about this being a ‘career ender’ for him was just an observation based on how the media plays up things like this, and I agree with those who said that he probably should have had a teleprompter at LEAST for the awards portion of the show. He strikes me as a gentleman (based on my observing his tenure on Family Feud) and I’m sure he feels absolutely horrible about all this.
Unlike some others in the business, I’ve always thought that he had a conscience that guided him.
