There's something the chattering classes along the Acela Corridor don't want to say about Donald Trump: He's the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican presidential nomination.
For the Republican Party's conservative - in more ways than one - establishment, it's as if admitting that will make it come true. So instead, they squabble over who the "real front-runner is, whether it's Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz. Perhaps, the parlor wisdom holds, a dark horse like Chris Christie can overtake the field at the New Hampshire turn.
For the first few months, the Trump deniers - loud on national television, insistent on Twitter and ever-present in the nation's leading print and digital outlets - could be called wishful thinkers. With the primaries just around the corner, as many otherwise smart political analysts keep waiting, aching, for conventional order to be restored, it's time to call them what they are: delusional.
Trump is leading national polls by more than 20 points in a field with more than a dozen candidates.
He's sitting on a double-digit lead in New Hampshire, holds a 20-point edge in South Carolina and runs 27 points ahead of his nearest competitor in Georgia. Though he's probably going to lose Iowa's first-in-the-nation caucus to Cruz, who's leading in the polls there, Trump could finish a strong second.
He's first or near it in Nevada, Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Missouri and Ohio. He's in the lead in nearly every state that has been polled. All those leads have held up after a dozen predicted collapses.
To anyone looking honestly at the hard numbers, Trump's lead in the Republican primary looks a lot like Hillary Clinton's in the Democratic primary. And no one is debating who will "really win" on the Democratic side.

I love your post # 11.
There is more wisdom, intelligence and value in electricians, plumbers, garbagemen and contractors than all the chirpers combined.
The LSM may indeed try some dirty handed scandal trick with Trump but its a different season this go round. Many on both sides know the media lies and won’t buy the BS-—only the mindless drones will. Also Trump is a fighter and punches back hard. Notice how he always excoriates the media at every rally. He’s inoculating the listeners so when the attacks happen their radar is up. Trump is no dummy or a wuss and people want a strong leader who will fight. The large crowds prove it.
Is that you, Yeb? Trump would destroy Hillary! Amazes me, really, that you favor a candidate who can’t even get close to the Donald, and you think they can beat Hillary. Hatred blinds a person!
I would really love to see a redefinition of who is valued and honored in our society.
Yeah, bumper-sticker sound bites will always beat someone who can put together a coherent paragraph or two. Trump cannot debate his way out of a paper bag, a wet paper bag.
Reminds me of a quote I once heard Dennis Prager share as, “the popular are rarely significant and the significant are rarely popular”.
Don’t count Sanders out yet. Trump vs Sanders now that would be something to behold.
Trump has to point out that with all of Hillary’s political and debate experience that everything she touched turned out to be a disaster. Also that he’s no politician or DC insider but knows how to get things done with success.
Debating Hillary Clinton is the surest way to letting her into the Whitehouse. Trump will mock her to death.
Really? The Clinton Foundation seems to be doing just fine, and she’s just as far away from jail, or censure, for her private email server as she was before it was discovered. If you count those as “disasters” then you may need to review your definition of that word.
“Cruz debate Bernie.”
Now THAT would be highly entertaining.
If so-called Americans vote and elect her knowing all these scandals and corruptions then they deserve whatever disasters ensue upon them.
Its been said people go to hell because they choose it.
If they want HELLary then they deserve her and it too,
“Ted in an assigned role of “attack dog” against the carefully sheltered Hillary.”
And the GOP will be complicit in convincing Americans of that by providing a foil like Trump to Clinton. Trump is the almost perfect guarantee of a Clinton victory. It’d be nice if the GOP tried to provide a nominee who would persuade people away from Clinton instead of toward her.
Did anyone hear those DemRat leftists onstage last night even mention the Constitution just once? I didn’t-—
One of the founders quoted, ‘The Constitution was made for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for that of another’.. How far the Republic has fallen but there is a remnant and its us.
So Trump getting many crossover voters is not something that would carve into Hellary’s invincibility?
Because Trump won’t get many crossover voters. You won’t get what you’ve so thoroughly alienated.
Didn’t watch debate. The way they are hiding these last few, it’s obvious it’s a complete farce. Her not taking it seriously enough to be at podium ? Really ?
That’s funny.
