The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a resolution drafted by the United States and Russia that endorses an international roadmap for a Syrian peace process.
A resolution's text was hammered out at a New York hotel during a December 18 meeting of 20 foreign ministers that was convened by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and UN Syria envoy Staffan de Mistura.
The resolution calls on the United Nations to bring together representatives of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government and moderate opposition groups that have been fighting Assad's regime for nearly five years.
It suggests the peace talks could start as soon as January.
"This council is sending a clear message to all concerned that the time is now to stop the killing in Syria and lay the groundwork for a government that the long-suffering people of that battered land can support," said Kerry.

Call the ISIS to the peace table? ISIS will have their biggest laugh ever. Maybe they will chop a few heads for the negotiators to throw some skin into the game.
This says they’re bringing the “moderate” Syrian rebels to the peace table. Who knows? Maybe they can find three or four of them.
Does this mean we officially speak for al Nusra, Ahrar al Sham, and the entire Jaysh al Fateh coalition?

Assad’s been given his walking papers is the way a number of pundits see this, at least France was attacking ISIS in this.

You have to admit though, when Kerry walks into a room, his counterparts have already lost because they are forced to listen to him. Everything within them is telling them to give him a wedgie on their way out the door, but there they are. It’s a propaganda masterpiece of the Obama admin to trot these idiots onto the world stage. In his goal of completely diminishing America, there is no better method.

At least it’s better than getting dragged through the streets by a mob. Assad will leave if the deal is right but the Iranians will continue to import their influence. We may see a worsening situation after he leaves.
