Bernie has one very big advantage as a candidate over Hillary - he’s fairly new to most of them and he’s not known as such a liar and cheat as is youknowwho. Also, Many democrats will vote for anybody they think can finally beat , get rid of, Hillary - who they greatly dislike (even voters who liked her hubby).
