[history]
Lee Circle will lose the statue of its namesake after the New Orleans City Council voted 6-1 Thursday (Dec. 17) to remove four monuments related to the Confederacy from their prominent perches around the city.
Besides Gen. Robert E. Lee, statues of Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard at the entrance of City Park and Confederate president Jefferson Davis in Mid-City and the obelisk dedicated to the Battle of Liberty Place at the foot of Iberville Street will all come down.

Nope.
Beer bottles, bar chairs, and a fat, flying hooker named Rosie, yes.
Banjo, no.

The MD legislature was arrested. Only the pro-confederate members, fewer than a dozen.

Educate yourself. Communism didnât exist in 1861. Hilarious conjunction of sentences given that Marx had written the Communist Manifesto in 1848 and there were "48er" communist revolutionaries receiving high appointment in Lincoln's army.
If the South had won the war would it have ended slavery? And if the South had won we certainly would not be The United States of America. Weâd look like some Balkanized mish-mash, if we had survived that long. Would you be happy with that outcome?

The Hinson book does include some history, and the author also disputes that 'the south' went to war for the sole cause of slavery.
The slavery spin is northern propaganda near the end of the war. IMHO, the 'south' went to war secondary to northern aggression and radicalized abolitionists.
BTW, I'm not from the south, or east or west.
To: Brass Lamp
There was never an existential threat to the remaining states in the USA. None what so ever. Mr. Lincolns War was optional. The CSA wanted to leave and not conquer the North; not that any EVER thought that ridiculous notion possible.

Really? Who started the war and what were the abolitionists trying to abolish if not slavery?

And Russia went communist in 1848? And you’ll tell me Lincoln read “Das Kapital? Bass Lamps Third Rule: Dodge a question.
