ATLANTA, Ga. - A new FOX 5 poll conducted after Tuesday night's CNN GOP presidential debate shows businessman Donald Trump with a huge lead among likely Georgia voters.
The poll conducted by OpinionSavvy for FOX 5 shows Trump with 34% of the surveyed voters, followed by Senator Ted Cruz of Texas with 15.8%.
The only other candidate in double digits is Senator Marco Rubio of Florida with 12%.
A second question which limited choices to the top tier of candidates creates a virtual tie for second between Cruz and Rubio.
In that second horse race question, Trump's support shot up to 40%.

I want a Trump/Cruz ticket.
Speaking to people in the Seattle area, Trump can win. He has an appeal, a "hipness", that none of others in GOP have.
Trump is a bridge between "uncool" Constitutional conservatism and popular culture. He doubtless realizes this and can bring Cruz along in the VP slot, recognizing all the latter has to offer from a substance standpoint.
To that end, I will continue to contribute financially to the Cruz campaign and invite all other conservatives - including (esp.) Trump supporters - to do the same.
Trump/Cruz '16
Ryan is a joke, and we all should have known it when he was Mittens’ veep.
If Trump wins Iowa it’s going to be hard to beat him since he’ll suck all the media away from everyone else for 8 days
He’s winning Big League as Trump puts it. Like baseball and the chewing gum.
The problem in Congress is that 236 members on the Republican side voted to make Paul Ryan Speaker of the House.
All of them need to be replaced.
First, they are opposed in primaries. If the RINO wins there is a conservative third party candidate. If the Uniparties make third party presence on the ballot tough or impossible, there is a conservative write-in for the general election.
The vote on this budget allows many of the 236 to pretend they are conservative with their NO votes.
The fact they voted to elect Paul Ryan as their leader in the first place should be the litmus test as to who’s conservative among Republicans.
95 percent of elected Republicans are not conservative.....
He said in a rally the other day he was bringing petraeus back.
“If the ticket for some odd reason even needs a politician, I would hope for TRUMP-Sessions, the sage of the senate with no baggage and no grudges against him. Cruz will be an appointment. AG, maybe.”
As for Cruz as AG - that’d be great if he was the one picking all of the federal judge nominees (obviously subject to Trump’s approval); possibly an appointment to the USSC to replace a real leftie would be nice, too (with a later elevation to CJ if Roberts leaves (and he should be coaxed, his switch on Obamacare has cost this country hundreds of billions of dollars).
“He’ll have his own national television studio, and big podium at the White House with lots of cameras and microphones.”
I would LOVE it if he did a 5 minute announcement every day (or at least M-F), detailing what he and his people have done that day to streamline government, get rid of stupid people, build the wall, etc. He could go with the theme that he’s working for us, and giving a progress report to his boss EVERY DAY. That would REALLY use the power of media, even if it won’t be broadcast on TV - just put it on YouTube, Facebook, etc. He’d gaffe a few times, but that’d make him seem that much more human and it would really endear himself to a lot of folks.
Hey thanks, I had not heard that. The drive by media must have forgotten to mention it.
Regarding Ryan, if I were in Trump’s position then almost immediately after winning I would start dropping hints behind the scenes that Ryan had to go, that he wants someone that shares his vision - which would, at that point, be the vision of We The People.
Opposition (besides from Ryan, which you HAVE to expect)? OK, fine - make it clear that President Trump is going to focus FIRST on eliminating some really wasteful program from that person’s district or state, and do it privately so as to no embarrass people and thereby get them to WANT to cooperate. Still not playing ball? OK, Trump simply names names and issues a blistering attack. No one wants that from an incoming President at the height of his powers.
Yep, those elite pundits - haven't called it right once...
But but but Cruz is “surging” right?
It depends on what you intend to mean by "surging".../s
First we replace Democrats - they’re the worst.
Then we replace RINO’s....
Our work is cut out for us...
EPA’s a good place to start...
They are all taking us down the same road and neither kind should receive our votes.
“Can’t wait until he can train all of his guns on one target at one time - (HildeBeast). It should be epic. “
Me, too. I’ve been saying I can’t wait until the first debate, when he asks her what she thinks she’s even doing on stage, since she should be in prison.
However, a horrible, horrible thought crossed my mind this morning...
What if Trump asks her a mean question (mean being defined, by the media, as any question that doesn’t automatically recognize her as a brilliant person who’s inarguably the best qualified for the job) and SHE BEGINS TO CRY.
Oh... oh, no. Disaster. Absolute disaster. 100 X worse than “Rick Lazio invades Hillary’s personal space!” What if that soul-less creature, somewhere behind those empty, evil eyes, actually has the ability to imitate a human being and shed tears because she’s been so cruelly treated by that nasty, evil Trump (who, as everyone knows [or at least the Cruz fans here on FR] has simply INSULTED his way to the top).
I’m afraid the media will FINALLY have something to pin on Donald and the Witch will win 98.9% of the female vote (and, of course, 100% of the Democrat vote).
I guess I have to have faith that Mr. Trump is smart enough to avoid that pitfall. However, if he uses his usual line and says “Hillary’s a very nice person...” I think I might get sick, right there in front of the TV.
