BLM will allege if the 5 whites on the jury voted to acquit the defendant it is because they are racist and devalued the black “victim”. If the 5 whites voted to find the defendant guilty, it is because they are racist and voted guilty because the defendant is black.

Almost any other town, and I might have cared. Whatever happens to Baltimore tonight, good or bad, is exactly what it deserves.

Jurors requested a hung jury decision after they had deliberated only a short while. The Judge told them to keep trying.

==

This is likely with all of the related trials. They should have allowed a change of venue, but they were hoping to hang the defendents, not the jury.

When you say african-American, do you mean black? I know liberals demand we bow down and use that magisterial sounding, ridiculous title, but I don’t do what liberals tell me to do.

The rule against double jeopardy does not apply here since the jury could not or did not agree on a verdict of conviction or acquittal as to any one of the four charges against the officer. In such circumstances, subsequent trials are permissible until there is a verdict. As a practical matter, the costs of such trials are prohibitive to both sides but the government, unlike the defendant, gets to levy taxes to pay its expenses as it goes along. The mob in the street will have the attitude "Costs be da*ned! Full speed ahead until we gets justice (i.e. convictions and jail terms)."

When a trial ends as this one did in a mistrial. it is said that jeopardy never attached and thus double jeopardy is not possible at this stage.

One other observation. Since something like 95% of criminal trials end in convictions, anything less is a humiliation of the prosecutors. If they continue to fail to convict, the prosecutors are looking at defeat in the next election or they are looking at a situation of what amounts to jury nullification which thy would regard as anarchy.

I more hoping to dampen irate crowds, both literally and figuratively. But yeah, that too.

Can it still be called a hung jury even though there are women jurors?

the jury could have been terrified of acquitting.

This was their strongest case? One to get the others to plead guilty?

Most likely every reporter in the country and every #BLM in Baltimore has broadcastify on now....it’s the highest feed for listeners right now.
It even beat Chicago! That’s usually the highest when nothing much is going on.

Prosecutors will generally continue to promise to persecute until the defendant agrees to plead to something.

There is a thing called malicious prosecution.

If they couldn’t even reach a verdict on an assault charge then there’s no way in hell any jury would convict on murder or manslaughter charges.

I hope that is the case.......because every white defendant, if convicted, will get an appeal.

not sure- (strongest case)

But the BLACK police officer is very credible-

(he was in the Van ) so if he was convicted-

others might plead- remember-— the other officers

turned Freddie over to the VAN- he was walking

on his own- how can they convict the other officers now?

I refer to them as American-Africans. I think they prefer that association.
