Rush Limbaugh today criticized Donald Trump for his attacks on Ted Cruz, but upon being informed the media thinks he turned on Cruz, Limbaugh insisted he did no such thing.
In case you missed it, after Trump called Cruz a "mania" yesterday who can't get anything done in Congress, Limbaugh today criticized him for echoing the establishment. He said, "Any of you who are holding out hope that Trump is a genuine conservative... a genuine conservative would not go after Cruz this way."
Well, during his show, Limbaugh founds out the media already picked up his criticism. He clarified, "I havenât turned on anybody. I haven't thrown anybody away. I haven't announced support for anybody."
He insisted he was just disappointed and asking a question about Trump's attack on Cruz "because it sounded like the same kind of criticism we would get from the establishment Republicans."
Limbaugh did muse over whether Trump would turn on him next, but figured it wouldn't happen.
For what it's worth, Limbaugh wasn't nearly as restrained in his criticism as Mark Levin was later in the day.
Levin hit Trump hard. He says he likes Trump, said he isn’t endorsing anyone, and said that he isn’t ruling anyone. However he did say Trump was wrong on attacking Scalia, wrong on ethanol, and wrong on using the left’s arguments to attack Cruz.
I know disagreeing with Trump is verboten for many, but even a lot of Trump supporters I know agree - Trump shouldn’t attack Cruz IN THAT FASHION.
“Because “Donald McCain “ is a fact?”
Well, you certainly have the right FR “handle” to make such a statement, because it certainly is a “fantasy” comment.
Rush is no different then Beck, their entertainers just like cher is.
Levin?
Good enough for me, thanks
Yes he did.
I was ticked, mostly because Rush was being honest and telling me things I didn’t want to hear.
Not Rushes fault.
Besides, most of that hour was Rush telling Trump how to beat Cruz.
Absolutely. He accused Trump of being McCain, said he was 'disappointed' etc. Really tore into Trump for the whole first hour.
Like I've said, that doesn't really surprise me. Rush has always preferred Cruz but I think it's just a wish list kind of thing, if he could have anyone he wanted. He can't believe it's the way to go now.
Your comment is incoherent.
He reported facts. Nothing more.

Not all of them.
You have it all backwards. If you don’t support Ted Cruz you’re a RINO or worse, a Democrat plant out to destroy conservatism....according to many freepers.
The only reason Rush is on the defensive is because he’s just a man with a mic.
Never set foot outside the studio.
Never step out into the street to make a point, unlike many Freepers on 12Sep09.
He sold ties. Now he sells books. ...and while I have appreciated his immense contribution to the conservative movement, he just ran afoul of his audience in a way he never has before.
He invoked McCain in relation to Trump.
Sorry Rush, but that was a disturbing and telling move.
The media and the Dems would love nothing more than to see Cruz and Trump taking each other out. I refuse to be drawn into the obvious attempt to sneak Rubio into the nomination. I know Cruz is aware of the game the libs are playing. I *suspect* Trump does too but I’m unsure how he perceives these challenges. Rush, IMO, was bemoaning the appearance that Trump had fallen for the Left’s trick.
Both the Cruz and Trump camps must realize that the media are out to get them and not take what they report at face value. Personally, I don’t care which one wins Iowa, NH, South Carolina, etc. as long as one of them does.
Quiet.. don’ tell them. Cool though that contemporaneously, the Cruz disclosed his “secret” psyche opts—
Champion debater Cruz always laid traps for his opponents, they never knew what was coming— only that IT was coming. -:)
Poor Donald.... as I said long ago, when it gets down to Donald and Ted,, it’s going to be like Cruise and Nicholson in “A Few Good Men” -— will just wait for Donald to blow.
I couldn’t listen to Levin for more than 10 minutes today. I’m tired of his ranting and raving about everything and he was over the top with Trump today. And i’m tired of him giving Cruz big wet kisses every night and never finding fault with anything Cruz does. That and his Cruz front publication, Conservative Review and their fawning coverage and fake ratings for Cruz.
Levin is free to say whatever he wants on his show, but for a guy who prides himself on being a tough talker who calls everyone out, he’s intellectually dishonest because he’s so in the tank for Cruz, yet claims he’s not endorsing anyone. Fact is, Levin needs an audience to get ad buys and so therefore he needs as many listeners as possible, thus the fake neutrality. I’m done with Levin. If he’s not stroking Cruz, he’s hawking his books or hawking his father’s books.
‘he just ran afoul of his audience in a way he never has before’
Yes he did
Makes me wonder if Rush has even the remotest idea of how despised McCain is in conservative circles.
It surely is a blzzaro world these days.. I can agree with you on that
Rush really blew one of his cardinal rules today. He involved himself in the primaries backing a candidate.
He could have handled this without doing that, but he didn’t.
Rush has lost his edge lately, even before this. More commercials and sales pitches than ever. Too much gab about book sales and iphones etc.
That said, I like Rush, but he should have done a better job gathering his facts and used more tact.
Trump would be well advised to listen to Limbaugh. if not the Donald himself, then his clothes media advisor should listen to Limbaugh and advice from daily if necessary
‘wha ?
