Sanctuary City Advocate Wrong to Lead Border Patrol, Senate Homeland Security Chairman Warns

Selecting San Francisco's former police chief to head the U.S. Border Patrol would encourage more illegal border crossings because she has a record of not enforcing federal immigration laws, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., argues.

Heather Fong advocated San Francisco's "sanctuary city" policy of non-cooperation with federal immigration officials, Johnson said in a letter Monday to U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske.

"The selection of such a candidate would send a strong message-both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S.-that enforcing our immigration laws is not a priority of U.S. Customs and Border Protection," Johnson wrote.

I think it was Eastern Washington State. IIRC I read (on FR) one of the profs there marked kids down for saying gender specific pronouns (like he, she, her, etc.)!

The trouble is, so many colleges are so liberal. But her HS is too, and she is able to hold her own. Same with my son at college - which is a Christian school, but is still plenty liberal in a lot of ways.

I have several grandchildren in college, or applying to various colleges. Most of them are from conservative families, and I shudder to think of them encountering this kind of prejudice. They can get suspended from school, or lose a scholarship these days for answering “wrong”.

One of my grandsons is in the interview stage of applying to 2 different miitary academies (He already has 3 recommendations and is interviewing with his Senators right now.) Of course, the academies have the final say, and a politically incorrect answer could leave him out in the cold.

It’s infuriating. What is college for, but to question and to learn to think critically?

In the original legislation that established DHS it specifically stated that the Chief of the Border Patrol must have at least 10 years Border Patrol experience.

This was done to prevent an administration from appointing a party partisan HACK to the position.

I am not sure if they repealed that section bit I would like to know.
