This makes three polls in 48 hours with Trump over 40, six with him over 35.

Oh, I forgot about that. Pretty soon, you’ll be seeing Cruz compared to “Seabuiscit,” who always ran way back in the pack until the final stretch.

Wait.....do you suppose this is part of Cruzâ SEC plan??? LOL.
First, congratulations to Mr. Trump for running a great campaign, and for helping frame the election on better terms. We certainly won't be hearing about free prescriptions for old people this time around.
Second, it was only a few weeks ago that Cruz was hovering around 7-9%. Cruz and Trump are taking defections and undecideds. Once space is created between Cruz and the rest of the pack, as it has in this poll, he will get some "Not Trump" votes. (Trump will also get some "Not Cruz" votes from those who don't care for Cruz' evangelical veneer.)
Is there time for Cruz to perform well in the SEC contest. Sure. Look at 2012, when many of us swung from Cain, to Perry, to Gingrich, to Santorum to try to stop Romney. Both Gingrich and Santorum voters swung to one or the other as needed to try to stop Romney. This time, it's the other side swinging from John Ellis Bush, to Fiorina, to Kasich, to Rubio, and now to Christie!
As it inevitably boils down to a two or three man race after Iowa and New Hampshire, numbers for both Cruz and Trump are likely to go up. Cruz will probably go up more than Trump, but it is unknown if he can surpass Trump.
If Cruz went from 5% to 25% overnight, he'd flare out as many have before. Cruz' efforts are largely at the ground level, and he has yet to seriously tap his adequate warchest for advertising. Spending your money earlier for an early poll surge is a chump's game, as Scott Walker learned, due to his inept campaign staff and some poor decisions on his part. Ted Cruz is no chump.

Trump will have this sewn up by Super Tuesday. Hopefully the losers on the bottom will withdraw so as not to cause issues at the convention with their handful of delegates.

Nah, I want the RINO munchkins to stay in the race so the RINO/Low-Information vote is split among them. That way the “higher” supported RINOs (e.g., Rubio) may be kept below the threshold percentage of the vote needed to get a proportionate number of delegates.
Folks, the name of the game is DELEGATES.

I predict Trump will get at least 10% of the Black vote.

Spittle——I knew I spelled that wrong ;)
I don’t watch Fox but heard that Kraut called Trump a ‘bigot’.
It’s amazing how Trump is flushing all these pretenders out in the open. I’m lovin every minute of it.

The SEC is Trump's.Chickens, hatching, counting, be careful.
To: springwater13
Well, this certainly goes counter to one candidate’s supporters who think he’s going to take the South. Oh well.
Go Trump go...
I generally ignore higher poll numbers in this range, but when you see two or three of them, it begins to seem a bit more real.
I still urge caution at these numbers.

With Trump at 43% in a 12 person field THERE IS NO SECOND PLACE - really think about it how can there be a second place when the guy sitting in it is at 16%?

Both Gingrich and Santorum voters swung to one or the other as needed to try to stop Romney. If Newt had withdrawn only from states in which he had no chance likely Romney would not have won.
