Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump declared before a Thursday night meeting of the New England Police Benevolent Association in Milford, N.H. that he will issue an executive order mandating the death penalty for anyone convicted of murdering a law enforcement official.

Although I don’t do the Rah Rah cheering as much as many do here, I am a huge fan of Trump.
He’s never been 100% in my book. This announcement falls into my ‘disagree strongly’ column.
That said, who else is going to close the border, build a wall, bring China, Japan, and dozens of other countries to to heel, end the death causing curse called ObamaCare, and countless other things?

Recently Trump said he’d issue very few executive orders. Now he’s going to start his presidency by issuing an executive order.
Be gentle, the anti-Trump posters have so little to work with, there's a big part of me that doesn't mind them using something other than the truth, at least this time.
My first thought too, are we second class or third class citizens?
I have been saying as an outsider that Cruz is the obvious choice.

yes, that is the logical conclusion ....
the Democratic party is the party of cop killers e.g. BLM so I’m sure they would resist. It would be an interesting fight and I think they would win ultimately but the victory would be Pyrrhic. Personally, I think any murderer should get the death penalty but the self defense laws need to be carefully constructed so as to ensure that anyone using truly justifiable lethal force is protected by the law. Self-defense is not murder and there must never be any legal confusion about that.
I can, if the murder is first degree. A cop is a representative of the state, an institution charged with keeping evil doers from harming the innocent.
The murder of an LEO because of their position is an affront to social order.
I also think all human beings are made in the image of God. Any first degree murder ought to be subject to the death penalty.
I am just saying that with an LEO there is an additional reason to pursue such a penalty.
I cannot see, Constitutionally, how Trump can enforce his proposed EO. If, for example, the state of Delaware doesn’t have the death penalty for the murder of an LEO, where is there Constitutional authority for the Federal government to come in and execute? Seems to be an overreach.
US Attorneys do have standing for federal firearms violations
The murder of anyone is an affront to social order.
The fact that our leaders think that they can dictate laws is nothing new and I’m not going to debate the constitutionality of such dictates.
So let me ask this, and of course it has to be theoretical, because in real life there are a truckload of bad cops, REALLY bad cops; Shouldn't those who are the final barrier between us and anarchy be given special consideration in many ways?
And also held to a higher standard, both on and off duty, with punishment of those who violate that standard be given extra harsh punishment?
I agree murder is murder. There should also be no “hate” crimes.
IMO LE is not the final barrier to anarchy, nor is it their mission to protect! That is an impossible task. They are there to preserve order when needed and to catch the evil doers AFTER injury is caused to the body public.
If they prevent injury, it is a side effect of presence, not of action. In the end, LE is a tool of the Executive.
The judiciary is the final barrier - and one which seems to be crumbling from within.
As to respect and consideration - LE, deserves our respect and support. They must, however, perform their duties in a way that serves to keep it.

But he doesn’t care.
He just wants to make outrageous statements that will generate headlines, keep his name at the top of all the newscasts and give him unlimited free interview time on the talk shows.

Yep, but then there’s “no enumerated Constitutional power for the federal government” to regulate immigration. But the feds do it anyway. So go figure!
How about an “Executive Order” to abolish Executive Orders and use the Constitutional process as intended?

Correct.
But not only that. Consider this:
Because every firearm and probably every knife has at least a few components that moved via interstate commerce, any murder with a firearm — and probably any murder with a knife — can be converted into a federal crime. What a neat way to continue the gradual but relentless obliteration of our federal system!
