Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump declared before a Thursday night meeting of the New England Police Benevolent Association in Milford, N.H. that he will issue an executive order mandating the death penalty for anyone convicted of murdering a law enforcement official.

how about a father murdering the guy who kidnapped, raped and murdered his 6 year old daughter?
Wow the Palin or rather Trump haters are out..
Trump: I’ll Use An Executive Order To Give All Cop Killers The Death Penalty
Amen brother.
Trump doesn't understand the difference between state and federal governments.
Trump is not a constitutional conservative.
Have seen the video.
So what do you think is the purpose of an EO? One would say below - this is from his quoted remarks -— So you think he lied to the police union just to get their endorsement?
“One of the first things Iâd do in terms of executive order if I win would be to sign a strong, strong statement that will go out to the country, out to the world, that anybody caught killing a policeman, policewoman, police officer â anybody killing a police officer: death penalty,â Trump said to loud applause. âItâs gonna happen. OK? We canât let this go.â
Sorry, but I don’t think you get it. Do you think presidential executive orders are not mandatory?
Call me names BTW - pick up that habit from Trump or does it come naturally? - but I don’t get your pretzel logic.
It would ruin Trump to have a bunch of advisors, but clearly this is statutory already and advisors could have told him he doesn’t need an EO and could have saved today’s incoming for another issue. He simply tells the Atty Gen to do death in every case single case with federal jurisdiction and if reluctant he fires the Atty Gen and gets a new one.
Understood. It’s not much of a @win@ unless it’s a candidate with good values.
Could it be that Trump puts this out there.
The mainstream media jumps all over it pointing out the President can not do that using Executive Orders...
Then Trump says, “I know that, I was just wondering if you knew that, and if you did, why haven’t you brought it up when Obama oversteps his authority?”
In most instances, the killing of a police officer is a state’s matter government and the federal keep its hands off such issue. Is Trump trying to cozy up to the GOPe?
What about the Constitution?
Does the Constitution factor into anything that Trump has to say?
Will they be hung from light poles with piano wire?
I am all for shooting cop killers. But I don’t need the Federal government telling the States what they should do.
US Attorneys have no standing in a State case.
(*sigh*) Shouldn't someone point out to Trump that in most cases killing a police officer is not a federal crime but a state one? And he can't establish penalties by executive order?
‘Xactly - that’s a Huge reason why he’s not qualified or to be trusted. He’s a pandering populist showman, throwing out red meat statements and promises to his adoring fans.
Trump = Perot
Cruz ‘16, or we lose.
RE: “Exactly. Shows Trump has no fundamental understanding of the constitution or thinks he can make like Bambi and do what he wants with a pen.”
Lib: bickering like a school girl.
Me too!!
If you don't mind, I'd like to restate what you said.
I see no reason that the penalty for killing anyone should be less than execution.
“BS. He has every right to issue the EO and force the issue.”
That’s how I see it - he knows what he’s doing, his advisers are top-notch. He likely figures that the 1% of Republicans that consider themselves to be Constitutional Scholars (many are here) and say it can’t be done won’t figure in to this.
But most of the other candidates and the media will immediately side with the rights of the COP KILLERS (or certainly appear that way), thereby allowing Trump to carve out and own what will be a VERY POPULAR position for the voters he’s trying to reach. No different than keeping Muslims out.
BRILLIANT!
When is comes to some aspects of business, Trump is smart, but he’s retarded regarding the basics of American Law and civics. There’s no general homicide statute on the federal level, because the power to prosecute and punish common-law crimes is reversed to the States. Another way of saying it is that there’s no enumerated Constitutional power for the federal government address common-law crimes.
He could advocate for the death penalty for killing FBI agents or other federal officials, but that’s not what Trump is talking about. But the audience ate it up, because they shared that quintessential ‘tard quality with Trump.
