New York Republican leaders are discussing the possibility of banishing Donald Trump from the party⦠despite the fact that he is the current GOP front-runner.
Presidential candidate Donald Trumpâs call to ban Muslim immigrants is straining his already shaky relationship with the Republican establishment in his home state of New York.
Joe Lhota, the 2013 GOP mayoral candidate, is calling on the Manhattan Republican Party to kick him out, relying on an obscure election law that allows a local chair to cast out a voter ânot in sympathy with the principles of such party.â Republican consultant E. OâBrien Murray is considering filing a complaint with the party.
The local party chairwoman, Adele Malpass, said Thursday that she disapproves of Mr. Trumpâs anti-Muslim proposal but isnât in favor of banishing him from the GOP.
âMr. Trump has made many statements about immigrants, Muslims, women and other topics which are diametrically opposed to the principles of the Republican Party,â she said in a statement to The Wall Street Journal. âHowever, I believe in the power of democracy, and I will let the voters decide Mr. Trumpâs political future.â
New York Republicans, outnumbered in a blue state, point to other transgressions: Mr. Trump has given more money to local Democrats than Republicans, gave up his GOP affiliation twice, and rarely engaged in party activitiesâoften not bothering to vote in state and local electionsâ¦
â¦Asked about the proposal to eject him from the party, Mr. Trump said, âGoodbyeâ and hung up the phone. His campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, followed up, saying: âThe notion of kicking the presidential front-runner out of the party is so absurd to me, I canât even comprehend it.â

Me too.
Stay tuned, and keep an eye on our new SOTH. I’m thinking I might just stay registered Republican long enough to vote against JEB! twice if they pull any more hsit like they did in Mississippi.
> “Mr. Trump has given more money to ***local*** Democrats than Republicans, ...”
Oh what a gem ...anyone else see the fallacy here?
Facts:
1. Before running for President, Donald Trump was a large scale real estate developer.
2. Developers, especially large ones, must by necessity give support to local political groups and law firms to gain approval for projects.
3. Donald Trump was a large developer in a deep blue nearly communist state. By necessity, his architects, engineers and planners needed him to smooth over the local apparatchiks to get plans approved.
4. Donald gave to local political groups in a deep blue state where he was doing business and where he was based.
5. Democrats far outnumber Republicans in New York.
ERGO, Donald Trump by necessity was required to give to more democrats than republicans.
BUT, nationally Donald Trump supported McCain, then Romney, and was so disappointed in both that he decided he had to do the job himself.
AND, for those of us who follow politics, we know that ‘republicans’ in New York State are very left-wing.
I can think of nothing more delicious than Mr. Trump going third party and winning!!!
These “Republicans” don’t want to win. They just want a mirror image of the Democrat big gubmint Communist/open borders/pro-Sodomy/pro-Jihadi party. Anyone who doesn’t mouth the same platitudes must be destroyed.
We don’t need a third party. We need a SECOND party.
Kinda tough for the GOPees to throw us under the bus when we are driving it. Trump or bust in 2016.
Zoom zoom. Beep beep
More likely a Clown Car.
No no no no no. The GOPe is NOT conservative. They are statists and corporatists and elitests, but not conservative. Conservatives want to preserve and revive what made this country great. The GOPe wants to preserve what has made them rich and powerful which is not what made this country great. They are afraid of what made this country great.
Begging for a $100 million lawsuit. :-)
This failed in NH.
This about the headline not facts.
I think the real fear for the establishment is the fact they have done NOTHING as leaders.
Speaking of NH isn’t Trump getting their police endorsement tonite?
Even when I was a NY Young Republican, there were only 2 of us...
Idiots are going crazy. The more the GOPe bounces off the wall, the more I want to see Trump keep up his attack. As much as I loath the radical left, I hate the GOPe more.
The Trump haters on FR may want to at least thank The Donald for further exposing who the a-holes are in the GOPe. He has at least served that purpose.
I don’t know the answer to this but is it possible to start a Republican movement to draft Hillary without her permission? If we could do so wouldn’t that split the vote since a lot of women Republicans would back Hillary just because of her plumbing? Just a thought and probably not much of one.
Trump said “Good bye” and hung up the phone. That’s sorta’ like saying “I won’t let the door hit me in the ass.”
