Voters Like Trump's Proposed Muslim Ban
Rasmussen Reports ^ | December 10, 2015

Posted on 12/10/2015 12:32:27 PM PST by reaganaut1

Despite an international uproar and condemnation by President Obama and nearly all of those running for the presidency, Donald Trump's proposed ban on Muslims coming to the United States has the support of a sizable majority of Republicans – and a plurality of all voters.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 66% of Likely Republican Voters favor a temporary ban on all Muslims entering the United States until the federal government improves its ability to screen out potential terrorists from coming here. Just 24% oppose the plan, with 10% undecided.

Among all voters, 46% favor a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States, while 40% are opposed. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

Trump, the front-runner in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, proposed the ban following last week's massacre in San Bernardino, California. Sixty-five percent (65%) of voters believe the two shooters in the incident were radical Islamic terrorists. Those individuals had entered the United States without problem and escaped detection despite several actions here suggesting that they had violent intentions.

Fifty-nine percent (59%) of voters believe it is too easy for foreigners to legally enter the Untied States. Only 10% believe it is too hard, while 23% say the level of difficulty is about right.

I agree with Cruz, not Trump, on this, but when 46% of people support a ban on Muslim immigration, Trump is not out of the mainstream.

To state the obvious, if only 1 out of a thousand Muslim immigrants is a terrorist, admitting 1 million Muslims means admitting 1000 terrorists. You can believe that the vast majority of Muslim immigrants will be law-abiding and still be concerned about Muslim immigration.

No thanks. I agree with Trump, not Cruz.

The vast majority of Muslim immigrants are here with expired visas, or as “faux refugees”

>> Trump is not out of the mainstream.

What’s the opposite of “politically tone deaf”? “Politically perfect pitch”?

Whatever it is, Trump has it as much as Bush lacks it.

And it’s driving the media and the GOPe nutz. I love it.

Cruz needs to wake up on this. Trump is right. Would any freepers invite guests into their homes if there were a strong possibility that some were genocidal murderers? Of course not. Then why would we invite possible Jihadists into our country without a good vetting process? This is really a no brainer, unless you suffer from the mental illness known as: Political Correctness (otherwise known as Cognitive Dissonance)

Left to me, I forever ban Moslems from this country.

Sharia and our Constitution do not mix.

Trump knows this is a can’t lose position to take.

-Most likely voters support this.

-It positions him to garner more support whenever a terror attack occurs anywhere in the world.

If there are no major terror attacks between now and the election then that’s WONDERFUL!

If there are terror attacks then Trump’s numbers rise.

I agree. Trump’s proposal is moderate by my standards.

I am Cruz supporter but I do like Trump’s broader ban idea. We have absolutely no obligation to let anyone in this country and can, not to mention have, excluded various groups before.

Cruz is fine on this issue. He’s been pushing to ban people from countries not by faith, but it’s about 80% of the same issue. Closing down out of terror-laden countries helps simplify the process. A handful of arabs out of France or England can be vetted much easier than a plane full of them out of Egypt or Turkey.

How many low-info voters wouldn’t even think about this if not for Trump? And the MSM HATES him for it. Chilling, isn’t it?

The other candidates will lose a LOT of support if they’re so sure Trump is wrong...they go around running their mouths.

No, he thinks the voters are stupid along with the others pushing this. Why would we believe banning people from Egypt or Turkey (although I think he said countries with significant ISIS presence) would stop terrorists from entering. Didn’t our last terrorist come from Pakistan by way of Saudi? Guess she would have still been able to come in. Oh, and whatever countries he names - like above terrorist, they just go to another country and come in.

Hehehe...this is driving the GOPe., the MSM, and the DNC batty. And well it should.

The fact is the American people are tired of the BS.

Regarding the proposal by Trump to temporarily halt all Islamic entry into the United States, there is a lot of hype, misinformation, ignorance, and out and out lies being circulated in an attempt to slam Trump.

The people see this...but a large number absolutely agree with Trump.

So, what is the truth of the matter? Is Trump's proposal illegal? Is his proposal un-Constitutional? Is his proposal un-American?

Well, please read the following.

8 US Code 1182 (Section a. Number 10, Paragraph f.)
Whenever the president finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, the president may, by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

This is in the U.S. Code of Laws. It was passed by Congress in 1952 and has been the law of the land ever since. And, by the way, at the time it was passed by a Democratic Congress.

So, to be clear, if the President determines that murders/killers/enemies are infiltrating any group of people to do harm to America, he has been given the power by Congress to stop or restrict that groups immigration or non-immigration status and ability to come into the country by proclamation. This is precisely what Trump has proposed…and for obvious reasons.

It is NOT un-American, it is U.S. Law.

It is NOT un-Constitutional, Article 6 Paragraph 3 of the U.S. Constitution regarding no religious test refers specifically and only to the election of Congress...not to immigration.

As President, Donald Trump would have full legal authority under U.S. Law to do exactly what he has proposed.

All of the hype, outrage, and statements to the contrary are either political grandstanding, abject ignorance of the law, or willful lies regarding the issue.

I don’t know what’s more disturbing. The fact that 24% of Republican’s don’t agree with a temporary ban or that 10% can’t make up their mind. When 34% of Republicans are stupid, that’s concerning. Of course, all Republican candidates except Trump fall into the 34% which is why Trump is hammering them all.
