The Associated Press reported last night that then-Secretary of State Clinton intervened to benefit her son-in-law's business prospects. Marc Mezvinsky was asked by an investor to get help setting up contacts at the State Department, and Hillary ordered her deputy to work on it: As secretary of state, Hillary Clinton intervened in a request forwarded by her son-in-law on behalf of a deep-sea mining firm to meet with her or other State Department officials after one of the firm's investors asked Chelsea Clinton's husband for help setting up such contacts, according to the most recently released Clinton emails.
The lobbying effort on behalf of Neptune Minerals Inc. came while Clinton --- now the leading Democratic presidential candidate -- was advocating for an Obama administration push to win Senate approval for a sweeping Law of the Sea Treaty. The pact would have aided U.S. mining companies scouring for minerals in international waters, but the Republican-dominated Senate blocked it.
Clinton ordered a senior State Department official in August 2012 to look into the request. Her action came three months after an investor in the mining firm emailed Marc Mezvinsky, Chelsea Clinton's husband and a partner in Eaglevale Partners LP, a New York hedge fund, asking for his help in setting up State Department contacts.
Clinton relayed a copy of the investor's email to Thomas Nides, then a deputy secretary of state and now vice chairman at Morgan Stanley, a major New York financial services firm. ââ¬ÅCould you have someone follow up on this request, which was forwarded to me?ââ¬Â Clinton asked Nides. He replied: ââ¬ÅI'll get on it.ââ¬Â
The Associated Press has been asking Team Clinton for an answer on this for more than a week, but finally gave up and ran the story without their comment. They didn't get any farther with the investor, Henry Siklas, or with a Neptune exec. Neither Chelsea Clinton nor her husband Mezvinsky would comment for the record, either. No one seems to want to talk about how a number of people -- including Hillary herself -- may have tried to cash in on her connection to power.
All of this circles around the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), which got blocked in July 2012, thanks to conservative opposition to its ratification. At the time, Jim DeMint of the Heritage Foundation actively organized opposition to the treaty, explaining that it would surrender sovereignty in areas including the mining interests that wanted Mezvinsky to use his family connections to curry favor at State:
By its current terms, the Law of the Sea Convention encompasses economic and technology interests in the deep sea, redistribution of wealth from developed to undeveloped nations, freedom of navigation in the deep sea and exclusive economic zones which may impact maritime security, and environmental regulation over virtually all sources of pollution.
To effect the treaty's broad regime of governance, we are particularly concerned that United States sovereignty could be subjugated in many areas to a supranational government that is chartered by the United Nations under the 1982 Convention. Further, we are troubled that compulsory dispute resolution could pertain to public and private activities including law enforcement, maritime security, business operations, and nonmilitary activities performed aboard military vessels.
A month earlier, he went into more detail:
Ratifying LOST not only means losing national sovereignty, it means losing jobs. If the United States enters this agreement, it would mean giving up billions in oil-and-gas royalties to be redistributed among developing and landlocked nations -- some of whom are state sponsors of terror -- and subjecting the United States to international climate change lawsuits. ...
Although the treaty is meant to establish a set of rules regarding the oceans, only a few pages of it deal with purely navigational concerns. The bulk of the 288-page treaty does things like establish a new international bureaucracy in Jamaica to collect and redistribute royalties on offshore oil drilling and force the United States into international arbitration for environmental disputes.
During a recent Senate hearing, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was asked how LOST would regulate American carbon emissions. Clinton claimed it wouldn't, but she didn't appear to consider several portions of the treaty that condemn and place sanctions on pollution -- even those coming from land-based sources.
When Hillary sent this request to her deputy, LOST had already foundered in the Senate. When Mezvinsky made his initial inquiries, though, ratification was still a possibility, and Hillary was pushing for its ratification. The investor in this mining operation saw the writing on the wall if LOST passed, and was looking to start drilling where it really mattered ââ¬â in the halls of power. And Siklas appears to have struck oil, too.
Everyone has clammed up, but perhaps this might be worth a look from a Congressional committee. Or perhaps some of the journalists covering the Hillary Clinton campaign can follow up on the AP's fine work here and ask those questions in public. Did Hillary run the State Department on behalf of the American people, or as a cash cow for the Clintons?
Drip, drip, drip...
This will surely be ignored by her MSM.
Republican gets caught doing this, every MSM outlet goes off like a firehouse siren on the Fourth of July.
What else would you expect from a lying, thieving, killing, treasonous, dirty little snot like Hillary Clinton?
Anyone....anyone....who speaks up for her is now as guilty as she is and is probably being paid by Hillary’s master.
Just demonstrating once again that she’s a Democrat as crooked as a dog’s hind leg ... nothing to see here.
We know now that Bernie loves Hillary but hates Wall Street hogging all the wealth leaving the working classes w/ nothing so it was a real tear-jerker when "kindly compassionate" Bernie stoutly defended Hillary's criminality WRT her State Dept emails....as Hillary glowed w/ approval.
OH, I JUST CAN'T WAIT---Will be such fun to see Bernie defend THIS Hillary.
Then-US Sen Clinton and then-Sen Corzine on the Capitol steps.
EXHIBIT ONE When that pic was snapped, Corzine was fresh out of Goldman Sachs executive suite, buying his NJ Senate seat office for $65 million; then buying the NJ governorship. Out of office, he ran a hedge fund where $1.5 B went missing....that employed both Bill Clinton and then-Secy of State Hillary's top aide Huma Abedin.
EXHIBIT TWO When Chelsea Clinton's husband started a hedge fund, he gained access to investors who had ties to the Clintons and to Goldman Sachs. Back in 2011, Mezvinsky, now 37, and two former Goldman Sachs'ers ââ¬â Bennett Grau and Mark Mallon ââ¬â began raising money for Mezvinsky's Eaglevale Partners LP hedge fund.
Some of Mezvinsky's investors included Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein. Blankfein, a slavish Democrat supporter, said he had "always been a fan of Hillary Clinton." The WSJ reported extensively on the hedge fund's underperformance since its inception and Mezvinsky's mediocre investing and strategizing.
===========================================
EXHIBIT THREE Then-US Sen Jon Corzine (D-NJ), used his office to pass a special tax exemption for a Japanese bank he owned----his Goldman Sachs crony, Christopher Flowers---adminstrator of Sen Corzine's "blind trust"--- used Corzine's blind assets to takeover the Japanese bank. Corzine later said he "did not know" the legislation he sponsored "benefited" him.
There's a well-known saying in Congress---"One hand washes the other." You vote for my bill; I vote for your bill." So did Hillary vote for Corzine's legislation....giving tax breaks for a Japanese bank Corzine's "blind trust" owned?
AND what other Wall Street deals did Corzine make w/ Hillary to enrich himself...and her?
"Bernie, I insist you go first."
ROTFLOL
What’s a little nepotism between friends?.......................
the Clinton Crime Family at work!
How is this a problem.....don’t all people in Government pave the way for the family and friends?? Most folks that vote for Hillary will agree. After all she is above the law.
How much hot water will it take to melt the rubbery Hellary? Apparantely not hot enough..
Alex, I’ll take cash cow for the Clintons.
Was Bob McDonald of Virginia convicted for less than this?
Hillary ordered her State Dept deputy to help out her son-in-law. Mark Mezvinsky has been criticized by the WSJ for his flaccid hedge fund strategies. Luckily Goldman Sachs has his back---and keeps the shady money rolling in. Now it appears flaccid hedger Mezvinsky had a needy investor in (drum roll please) "a mining operation" which was contingent on Hillary's backing Law of The Sea regs in order to start drilling to get the big bucks rolling in.

Heavens to uranium....did SoS Hillary act to advance someone's mining intersts?
INCONVENIENT FACTOIDS All of the nefarious Clinton Foundation donors have faced intense media scrutiny, particularly Canada-based mining mogul Frank Giustra; Giustra is a mega Clinton Foundation donor and personal friend of Bill Clinton, and was scrutinized for business deals that critics said were linked to his donations to the charity. Giustra is a member of Mr. Clinton's inner circle, joining him on global trips and lending Clinton the use of Giustras private MD-87 jet.
==============================================
The NYT report WRT the sell-off of strategic US uranium assets noted that the uranium investors also donated to the Clinton Foundation, as follows:
Canadian mining mogul Frank Giustra--globe-trotting pal of Bill---donated $31.3 million and a pledge for $100 million more to the Clinton Foundation. Giustra built a company that later merged with Uranium One. Seems to have facilitated the uranium sell-off.
Canadian mining mogul Ian Telfer--donated $2.35 million to the Clinton Foundation. Mining investor who was chairman of Uranium One when an arm of the Russian government, Rosatom, acquired it.
Paul Reynolds--mining mogul donated $1 million to $5 million to the Clinton Foundation Adviser on 2007 UrAsia-Uranium One merger. Later helped raise $260 million for the company.
Frank Holmes---mining mogul donated $250,000 to $500,000 to the Clinton Foundation. Chief Executive of U.S. Global Investors Inc., which held $4.7 million in Uranium One shares in the first quarter of 2011.
Canadian mining mogul Neil Woodyer---Founded Endeavour Mining with Giustra--donated $50,000 to $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation. Adviser to Uranium One.
GMP Securities Ltd.---Donating portion of profits to the Clinton Foundation. Worked on debt issue that raised $260 million for Uranium One mining interests.
My cynical side agrees with you...
ITEM--The NY Times reported the "Clinton Giustra Enterprise Partnership" collected about $33 million US tax dollars from Hillary's State Dept between 2008 and 2013.....$25 million of which was passed back across the border into the US-based Clinton Foundation coffers. Plus---mining mogul Giustra pledged a whopping $100 million to the Clinton Foundation....after Clinton helped him clinch the mega-bucks uranium mining deal.
ITEM---millions of dollars and 1,100 donors are shrouded in mystery in the Canadian Giustra/Clinton operation. The Clinton Foundation signed a âmemorandum of understandingâ with the Obama White House agreeing to reveal its contributors every year. The agreement stipulates that the âClinton Giustra Sustainable Growth Initiativeâ (as the charity was then-known) is part of the Clinton Foundation and must follow âthe same protocols.â
SURPRISE: It hasnt.
Caught w/ his pants down, mining mogul Giustra's backtracking like crazy---saying Canadaâs federal privacy law "forbids" the Canadian-registered Clinton charity, from revealing its donors.
A memo he provided news organs cites âfiduciary obligationsâ to its contributors and Canadaâs Personal Information Privacy and Electronic Disclosure Act. âWe are not allowed to disclose even to the Clinton Foundation the names of our donors,â Giustra says.
However, Canadian tax and privacy law experts were dubious of the Clinton/Giustra claims. A former director knowledgeable about tax policy at Canada's Department of Finance, said he wasn't aware of any tax laws that would prevent the Clinton charity from releasing its donors' names. "There's nothing that would preclude them from releasing donors' names. It's entirely up to them."

Canadian mining magnate Frank Giustra is one of the Clinton Foundationâs largest donors. Giustra's $100 million contributions go directly:
<><> (1) to the tax-exempt Clinton Foundation, and,
<><> (2) to the Canada-based "Clinton-Giustra Enterprise Partnership."
The "Clinton-Giustra Enterprise Partnership" in turn sends money to the Clinton Foundation... (according to Canadian tax records researched by "Clinton Cash" author Schweizer).

And we all know the illustrious history of Mezvinsky’s old man don’t we?
RE: And we all know the illustrious history of Mezvinskyâs old man donât we?
For those who don’t know...
Edward Mezvinsky’s son, Marc, married Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former U.S. Secretary of State and former U.S. Senator from New York Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Who is Edward Mezvinsky?
According to Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Mezvinsky
Well, he is an American former politician and a convicted fraudster. A Democrat, he represented Iowa’s 1st congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives for two terms (1973-77).
After being elected to the Iowa Legislature (1968), he lost a race for Congress in 1970, then won in 1972. He made several unsuccessful U.S. Senate attempts in the 1980s.
In 2001, he was convicted of 31 charges of fraud, and served five years in federal prison.
Beginning in the early 1990s, Mezvinsky started a wide variety of 419 scams. According to a federal prosecutor, Mezvinsky was conned by “just about every different kind of African-based scam we’ve ever seen.”
The scams promise that the victim will receive large profits, but first a small down payment is required. To raise the funds needed to front the money for the fraudulent investment schemes he was being offered, Mezvinsky became himself a conman, tapping his network of former political contacts and dropping the name of the Clinton family to convince unwitting marks to give him money
