They will just do the regular routine, all the MSM including Fox (minus Hannity) will say Trump lost the debate, just a lot of negative Trump talk hoping against hope that it will work.
When they are really in crunch time their pollsters will get the message that it`s time to bring the numbers down...something like that

You nailed it. This is in response to Donald’s demand that they donate $5 million to a fund for veterans. They won’t do it so they lose the ratings bonanza that Trump brings. So they cut a deal with the GOPe to make up for lost revenues by running an additional debate.
They, CNN think they recover lost ad revenues from Trump’s no-show. The GOPe thinks they gain extra exposure for their non-Trump GOPe RINO candidates.
Both think it’s a win-win, but I see it as a lose-lose. I see a large segment of viewers tuning out of this. Who wants to watch this pack of GOP losers? The only one worth watching for conservatives is Ted Cruz, but they always ignore or marginalize him. And he doesn’t have the broad base appeal that Trump has.
What will be interesting is what the Trump team decide to do to counter. They could run a long infomercial simulcast to bury CNN’s ratings and cause massive hurt to both CNN and the GOPe. It could be so disastrous for them, they could end up canceling the extra debate.
