Outcry Over Donald Trump’s Muslim Comments Is Loud, but With an Uncertain Refrain

"I don't care."

That was Mr. Trump's response to the outcry from the mainstream news media, Democrats and Republican presidential candidates over his call to halt the influx of Muslims into the United States.

Mr. Trump was roundly criticized, as expected, by Hillary Clinton, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Martin O'Malley and other Democrats. The mayor of St. Petersburg, Fla., a Democrat, tweeted that he was barring Mr. Trump from his city.

Republicans such as Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, Jeb Bush and Gov. John R. Kasich of Ohio condemned Mr. Trump. So did the chairs of the Republican parties of three key early-voting states--Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. The former vice president, Dick Cheney, said Mr. Trump's proposal "goes against everything we stand for," though former President George W. Bush has not commented publicly. Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida disavowed the proposal, but in brief; Mr. Cruz has suggested limiting the influx of refugees from countries with terrorist presences.

But if Mr. Trump didn't care about the response, neither did his supporters, based on initial reports. Some of his supporters in South Carolina told CNN that they were fine with his proposal, since their concern is terrorism and what they see as the Obama administration's paltry response.

“I don’t care.” GOOD. He can brazen this out as long as he doesn’t back down. The minute he apologizes, he’s toast. He’ll be Ross Perot 2.0 in terms of significance.

"I don't care."

Good!

Now, really bunch up their panties and expand on it, and propose a suspension of ALL immigration for 12 months after you're elected.

Blah, blah, blah.

Meanwhile, everyone in America with an IQ over fifty cheered Trump - even if some who pride themselves on their ‘liberalism’ did so secretly.

“One compared his proposal to the Japanese internment camps during World War II.”

The internment of Japanese during World War II has zero in common with what Trump proposed. Zero.

Haven't you figured that out by now.

I have had enough of political correctness and moral cowardice in our country.

The knee-jerk reaction of the establishment to the Trump Plan tells me all I need to know.

Trump puts the security of our country first. For the rest Muslim feelings come on top.

I plan to vote for Trump because he gets it. We need a President willing to do what is right for our country.

All the rest is commentary.

Why did Bill Oreilly, on his program last night, show Trump's plan but omit the facts?

This morning, Fox is still reporting this plan WITHOUT THE FACTS, in order to make Trump look bigotted!

I am livid with Fox News, who portray themselves ad Fair and Balanced. Damn propagandists!

Our elected officials have been so conditioned (and beaten down) by political correctness in this country that even so-called conservatives reflexively conform to it - in a strange version of Stockholm Syndrome.

There are two things our current politicians are most concerned with maintaining:

  1. The Money Spigot
  2. Access (To the media, beltway cocktail parties, retreats, etc.)

Donald Trump who is independently wealthy and beholden to nobody is liberated from the harness of political correctness. He embodies the free spirit that all Americans used to enjoy.

Well, to use the liberal leftist language, this is nothing more than ‘common sense’ Muslim control measures. Works for me.

“The minute he apologizes, he’s toast.”

Why would he ever want to apologize? People evidently don’t think Trump thinks over in advance what he says. You don’t get to be head over a business enterprise by being wishy-washy.

Will he fall into Franklin D Roosevelt’s shoes and put them in internment camps?

Some of Trump's SC supporters told CNN that they were fine with his
proposal....their concern is terrorism and the possibility of being
killed and what they see as the Obama administration's paltry response.

Even though Trump has not made overtures to the evangelical vote,
it appears he has tapped into one of their greatest concerns.

An evangelical pastor on BOR said his congregation rose en masse to
applaud Trump's statement WRT bombing the **** out of ISIS. Later
some 200,000 evangelicals downloaded the pastor's words.

There are at least two choices regarding Muslims in and coming to America

Accept them and the absolute probability of terrorism and death on a relatively small scale or exclude and eliminate the problem

the question is, is any death acceptable? To me, none is acceptable.

It seems that Obama and the presstitutes favor death at the hands of the terrorists over life.

So long as the terror is concentrated in the blue zone cities, the leftist power strong holds, It doesn’t concern me. The dead are mostly left wingers

(the trade center deaths are small scale compared to the bombing of Dresden)

I hope you are right, and you probably are. I’m just so accustomed to politicians who say what they mean and then scramble backward and apologize the minute they get any flak for it.

Actually, I never paid much attention to Trump until about 2 weeks ago. I’m just waiting to see who’s going to stick it out and who’s going to drop out in the next few months. But he has my attention now, and I would be so delighted to see someone who doesn’t back down. I mean, someone on our side.

"Appearances will matter. Justice will be rough, because society will require more order but have fewer resources and less time to impose it. As technicalities give way, innocent people will suffer. If you don't want to be misjudged, don't act in a way that might provoke Crisis-era authority to deem you guilty. If you belong to a racial or ethnic minority, brace for a nativist backlash from an assertive (and possibly authoritarian) majority. At the height of Crisis, you might have to choose between loyalty to the national community and loyalty to your own group."

--William Strauss and Neil Howe, The Fourth Turning, Chapter 11

If at any time in the last 20 years the American Muslim community in general had arisen and had chosen loyalty to the national community, we would not be in the situation of at least a plurality, if not a majority, of Americans ready to wreak havoc by any means available, Constitutional and otherwise.

NY Times carrying water for the GOPe and CAIR against Trump and a huge cross-section of Americans. And the RINOs in the GOPe think that’s just dandy.

Does anybody remember when Reagan ran for office in 1980? I think I remember the same kind of doubt was cast on Ronald. You are right how well put that he embodies Free Spirit of Americans! In contrast Jihad well, its kind of laughable that anyone would compare because you cannot.....

My parents were children during Musolini, my speech, assimilation was all they worked on, I can tell you. My parents speak better english than me.

GO TRUMP 2016
