This is a Brilliant Move by Donald Trump
Red State ^ | Erik Erickson

Posted on 12/07/2015 8:16:38 PM PST by VinL

Donald Trump just trumped all the Republican candidates for President.

The day after the mom jeans wearing squat to pee President came out to assure us that tolerance, gun control, and climate change would save us from ISIS, Donald Trump demanded we bar any muslims from entering this country and bar any American citizen who is muslim from re-entering the United States.

Set aside the merits of what amounts to at least, in part, an unconstitutional position.

This is actually brilliant politics for the here and now. Immediately, every other Republican candidate except Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% rushed out to attack Donald Trump. He’s unhinged, hateful, etc. And the responses all amounted to "we must let muslims enter our country," which sounds a whole lot like "we must allow all Mexicans in our country," which everyone knows is blatantly untrue on both counts.

We do not have to do it, but the other candidates, unable to nuance their spittle, went all in with "no religious tests" and "yes we must do this because it is who we are."

So, to put it another way, the day after the President failed to reassure a scared public following the second worst terrorist attack since 9/11 on domestic soil, Donald Trump not only got himself to the right of all the other candidates, but also got every single one of them save for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% to align themselves with Barack Obama.

Hate Donald Trump all you want, be offended by his proposal all you want, but it is really brilliant politics for Trump right now in the Republican primary and the reactions from the other candidates prove it. All the people attacking Trump on his immigration proposals now attacking him on this have done themselves no favors within the primary process.

Have none of these people read Art of the Deal? This is an opening, bombastic salvo to set the terms of negotiations and the other candidates except Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 100% just decided to negotiation in Barack Obama’s position. And it comes at a time some polls are suggesting Trump is starting to fade in places like Iowa.

Oh brother, you really have a problem there! He DOES indeed use lawyerese, as do most pols, who ARE lawyers.

What I meant by that, is that he is careful about how he phrases things, splits hairs, but Trump just roars, in a very unPC manner. He sounds like one of us; Ted doesn't.

If I got a dig in on a Cruz supporter/s, it's because they go after me...BIG TIME. Sauce for the goose and all that. :-)

Since 67

Two years of the 65 open borders was enough

It literally has turned our demographics on its head and made the nation 20% more reliably libtard voting

Whites are more socially conservative than ever in our history relative to the current time but it’s not enough anymore

Non whites vote TARD and they are growing

Eric inadvertently, or purposely, left out what Ted said.

Eric is a true bot for Cruz at all cost, credibility included. Remember he banned Trump from his summer party in Georgia hosting the wannabee candidates. Eric was in a snit over some thing or another that Trump had said.

I will no longer “misunderestimate” him. I learned today that two of my libtard friends who never, ever vote registered to vote so they can vote for Trump. And it ain’t an Operation Chaos sort of thing either. They straight up like him. It’s just weird.

No. In 1940’s Roosevelt did the same thing, but the Germans and Italians could not leave more than five blocks from their homes. He based it on a law from 1839.

This security measure is hardly new and temporary at that, until which time we get Obama the hell out of office.

Much hand wringing about nothing. The radicals are Muslim.
Profiling is common sense. Safety measures will save lives.

Do you want to risk yours to the open travel rules?

Exactly. Trump did not say that, and clarified that fact on Greta.

I am so very glad that DonW asked about that flickering image. I could not make sense of it at all.

Donald J. Trump Statement on Preventing Muslim Immigration

(New York, NY) December 7th, 2015, — Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population. Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah.” Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.

Mr. Trump stated, “Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension. Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life. If I win the election for President, we are going to Make America Great Again.” - Donald J. Trump

Trump will be attacked by 90% of Americans. While his ideas are sometimes shaky, this one may turn off many non-Muslims as well. He is flamboyant but like a loaded canon and he better shore up IF he wants mass appeal.

Remember, Trump said he labored as hard as he could to deliver on the grand perceptions he created.

My husband and I had been discussing Trump tonight and so I decided to learn more about his core principles and modus operandi. Hence, researching the book, through this article (and others.)

At this time, Trump has his 40,000 hours in and he will be as he has always been, a winner who delivers.

Have a blessed Christmas.

That is true also...the problem is, is that now he will be framed as a bigot and that will be a tough one to fight. I support him but he has to learn to filter a bit...

Lots of interesting points made on this thread.

Has anyone heard about the rumors of WMD materials that have been smuggled into Europe and the ISIS trained specialists that will use them are mixed in with the refugees?

That very real possibility changes the “Tone” for sure!

If the Don is two steps ahead, and I think he is, then maybe a WMD attack, somewhere, is imminent. Or maybe more than one and here.

Look, I’m a huge Trump supporter, but I don’t agree with everything he says. (Mark Levin has said the same thing about candidates he endorses - so, there’s that). I like Cruz, just not for the #1 spot - yet. I’m kind of sick of this back-and-forth bickering between the 2 campaigns. These 2 are the best we have to choose from in this race, and everyone on here knows that. It’s just a matter of who we prefer at the top of the ticket - and for me - that is Trump.
