Trump faces backlash from both parties after call to bar Muslims entering US (Not Cruz)

Donald Trump's proposal to ban all Muslim immigration into the US, including that of tourists, was met with an immediate and massive backlash from across the political spectrum.

Republican presidential candidates moved quickly to condemn their party's frontrunner, with Jeb Bush describing Trump as "unhinged" and Lindsey Graham calling on everyone seeking the presidency to denounce the plan.

"Donald Trump today took xenophobia and religious bigotry to a new level," Graham told the Guardian in an interview shortly after Trump unveiled his proposal.

"His comments are hurting the war effort and putting our diplomats and soldiers serving in the Middle East at risk. The way to win this war is to reach to the vast majority of people in Islamic faith who reject Isil and provide them the capability to resist this ideology."

Bush, the former Florida governor, responded on Twitter: Donald Trump is unhinged. His "policy" proposals are not serious.

"Donald Trump is unhinged. His "policy" proposals are not serious."

New Jersey governor Chris Christie said Trump's comments reflected "a ridiculous position and one that won’t even be productive".

"We do not need to resort to that type of activity nor should we," Christie told conservative radio show host Matt Medved. . (snip)

This is very similar to when Trump announced in June and said the wall must be built and illegals must be sent back.

The whole political and pundit world went into apoplexy.

But the people agreed with Trump.

Now Trump is showing his leadership and courage by focusing on the problem and giving a workable solution that protects America.

Since his solution upsets the plans of the political and pundit woorld to remake and dilute America and its people, they once again are drowning in apoplexy and projectile vomiting.

Good.

The people know this is common sense.

And if DC and the pundits don’t like it, to hell with them.

This IS who we are!

Ted Cruz's 2014 proposal Ted Cruz was more refined and targeted people who go to fight for ISIS and other terrorist groups. The left screamed that its unconstitutional but there is precedent for refusing to accept people who join our enemies.

Looking at my grandmother's passport from the 40s a while back and it stated clearly that joining a foreign enemy was grounds for loss of citizenship.

Backlash from both sides? Yeh I don’t think so. LOL! Trump is going to ride this right into the White House.

Precisely. It’s almost as though he has a crystal ball and can see the future. He reads five newspaper from cover to cover each morning and admits to being a news addict. With his high IQ he’s able to analyze and come to his own conclusions without waiting for the talking heads to tell him what to think

Trump’s comments were quite moderate IMO. He did not suggest we round them up. He just said we stop allowing more of them into the country. Finally someone is saying what needs to be said. Discrimination is good when it comes to evil.

One thing about Trump, he is watching out for Americans and America by saying this....the ‘wimp in the rainbow hut’ could have said that last night, but he didn’t...he didn’t want to say anything, as usual, but they forced him to...

Now with Trump coming out with this, he has put the wimp in a corner and he can’t get out, and he has put Hillary on the ‘hot seat’ what can she say...call him names like everyone else is doing, that doesn’t solve the problem, so now when they start coming out against Trump, he can go at them with the Second Amendment...

No body can play this better than Trump, no one...he isn’t a ‘politician’ so he doesn’t have a weak record or a ‘me to’ record or ‘voting for the other party’ record, he is only owned by Legal Americans and he loves us and he loves America and that is more than you can say about what has ‘never lead us in 7 years’....

Who cares? Put on your big boy pants and enjoy it. We ain’t going down without a fight!

The Constitution is not a suicide pact! I believe the founders figured we might still have some brains and guts to defend ourselves should the ccountry be invaded.

Trump is exactpy right....7 he is following the Israeli security model THAT WORKS, unlike obama’s foolish “non profiling” based non-security.

If he isn’t scared then why is he talking about the “language” he will use.

I’m sorry, the language he uses does not make may family safer.

I am Cruz supporter but I see Trump getting another 5 point bump out of this.

Agree, Cruz could have been stronger on this reply, perhaps by saying something like, "I'll let Trump speak for himself, but it may be time to have a closer look at our immigration source-countries".

But that would also require Cruz to believe that we need to bring in fewer/different immigrants. It is not clear yet to me that he believes this. (FWIW, I have contributed money to Cruz)

Love the picture, someone just needs to photoshop in piles of papers. Trump is always in the middle of at least a dozen things at a time.
