HOUSTON, Texas — Presidential candidate Ted Cruz issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s remarks from the Oval Office tonight:

“On December 7, 1941, in response to Pearl Harbor, FDR did not give a partisan speech, rather he called on Americans to unite and ‘win through to absolute victory’.

“If I am elected President, I will direct the Department of Defense to destroy ISIS. And I will shut down the broken immigration system that is letting jihadists into our country.

“Nothing President Obama said tonight will assist in either case.”

An interesting document, as Francis Joseph was Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary in April 1912. Charles was the last Hapsburg Emperor of Austria from 1916 to November 8, 1918, when emigration from that part of the world was somewhat restricted by certain international complications.

I would prefer that President Cruz first request Congress, according to the Constitution (remember that document?), vote for a Declaration of War against ISIS.

With that President Cruz could authorize DOD to use any and all weapons (including nuclear) to bring the enemy to unconditional surrender or completely destroy their ability to wage any terrorism against the United States.

There is nobody else in the race who is more likely than Ted Cruz to take a strict constitutional route.
