Semi Uzis were notoriously hard to convert to full auto. The disconnector was weird.

It’s not an automatic, but if it were, it shouldn’t matter. Automatics should be legal for any non-criminal to own, and nothing suggests that this guy is actually a criminal.

Criminal by reasonable stamdards, that is, not insane moonbat Baltimore PD standards.

submachine gun
noun submachine gun : a small, light machine gun

Full Definition of SUBMACHINE GUN

: a portable *automatic* firearm that uses pistol-type ammunition and is fired from the shoulder or hip

It’s like the difference between lightning and a lightning bug: it really does make a difference which one lights on your head.

Another outstanding job gerbilists!

Heck, if I were walking the streets of Baltimore I'd be carrying anything I could lay my hands on.

Exactly! This is Baltimore, people! He was probably just headed to the local CVS to get a prescription for his grandmother...

The best part about FR is that there are so many people with so much experience, there’s bound to be someone who knows EXACTLY about any given subject.

If you wanted to learn how to boff a giraffe, someone here will be able to tell you the best size of the ladder to use. LOL

Yes, I am aware of that. I have two friends who own (legal) full auto Uzis and a half dozen more who own the semiauto models. All bought way back in the 1980's when owning a full auto was relatively simple compared to these days.

There are several major differences between the full and semi auto modles. The bolt for one thing.

Never did own an Uzi myself though

It’s an Uzi. With a barrel extender and what appears to be a silencer.

Possibly a once-legal semiauto Uzi carbine with 16" barrel, and a dummy suppressor to disguise the long, spindly barrel. Can only be sure by opening it up. It had to be extensively redesigned to prevent full-auto parts from being used for an illegal conversion.

Somebody with a $12 Jennings would not usually have a $15K (if transferable) Uzi. You could buy a lot more Jennings with that kind of money.

The bolt has a fixed ‘nipple’ type firing pin. But the biggest problem going full auto is the disconnector. I think it sits in the bolt. The bolt is the majority of the Uzi weapon’s mechanics, it is an odd firearm that way. I may be wrong about where the disconnector sits — I never made the attempt to convert nor even really bothered learning much about it.

Cheesy knockoff is my guess. Or heavily modified to look “gangsta.”

I don’t know why someone would want a fake suppressor, but Cheaper Than Dirt sells them.
Like putting spinner rims on his ride, and then he brandished it? It sounds like some homey that he startled may have ratted him out.

“Diamond in the back
Sunroof top
Diggin’ the scene
With a gangsta lean”

Yeah, it’s still 1979 for me.

I had an IMI one, cost $800 before the big “Deadly Semi-Auto Assault Weapon” scare of the ‘80’s. Cool to shoot once, but not that great for any purpose. The pictured one has a fake suppressor to hide the long barrel. Reporters are liars and idiots.

It wasn't even a great pistol-type weapon even if you DID get the short barrel.

It oozed cool, though. I'd like to replace it, for the collectible angle.

Folks seem to forget about gun rights when the person lives in the wrong neighborhood, has the wrong kind of name or is the wrong color.

He’s not going to be at the range very long with that much ammo.

What’d he do wrong? Jwalking while black?

My guess, an Uzi with a suppressor.

Interesting photo. I see a sub-machine gun and a small semi-auto. I also see a banana mag, commonly associated with a AK type rifle along with ammunition for it.
But what about that mag and string of ammunition at the bottom. Pictured handgun or?

Looks to me like we do not have the whole story here.
