The U.S. Air Force has fired off more than 20,000 missiles and bombs since the U.S. bombing campaign against ISIS began 15 months ago, according to the Air Force, leading to depleted munitions stockpiles and calls to ramp up funding and weapons production.
As the U.S. ramps up its campaign against the Islamist terror group in Iraq and Syria, the Air Force is now "expending munitions faster than we can replenish them," Air Force chief of staff Gen. Mark Welsh said in a statement.
"B-1s have dropped bombs in record numbers. F-15Es are in the fight because they are able to employ a wide range of weapons and do so with great flexibility. We need the funding in place to ensure we're prepared for the long fight," Welsh said in the statement. "This is a critical need."
The bombing campaign has left the U.S. Air Force with what an Air Force official described as munitions depot stocks "below our desired objective."

Part of the plan.
A rag-tag Jay-Vee team living in the desert? We can’t win against a force like that!! We don’t have enough weapons!
I hope China doesn’t get any ideas ... because I’m pretty sure we don’t have enough bombs to deal with them either.
Something doesn’t add up.
If true, congress needs to get their heads out of their butts and authorize some more defense spending.
Blowing holes in the sand, at taxpayer expense.
Let’s just have another Climate Summt...that oughta do the trick.
The Air Force always says this.
Probably by not using "smart" bombs that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars each to destroy unmanned construction equipment.
“If true, congress needs to get their heads out of their butts and authorize some more defense spending.”
The President has wide discretionary control over the defense budget. If he wants to take money budgeted for bullets and bombs and spend it on Global Warming he can do so. This happens every time we have a Democrat in office. When Clinton left office he’d used all the bullets and bombs. On any given day up to 50% of Air Force and Navy planes could not fly for lack of a vital component. More money is not the answer. Fewer Democrat presidents is the answer.
It’s a “peace dividend.” Thank your local RATs for keeping us safe.
Guess we’ll just have to nuke the bastards.
Propaganda piece to convince people that Obama is really fighting the islamic state.
Maybe we can subcontract this out to the Russians. If they run out of bombs also what’s the bad news?
The bigger question is: What the heck have we been hitting? 20,000 bombs and missiles is almost one for each individual member of ISIS in that region.
Yes, we shot off $500,000 missiles to blow up Mitsubishi pickup trucks with two idiots with guns in them. They weren’t even Toyotas.
Bombing has never won a war, and it never will.
It is an act of moral cowardice by a people unwilling to do what is necessary to win.
ISIS is willing to send their soldiers here to die. We are not willing to do the same (not saying we should).
In war, if you are not winning, you are losing.
Maybe they should try targeting the jihadis.
By raising 129 divisions, mostly through conscription, launching 2500 warships, and sending brave men armed with bayonets and flamethrowers to kill the enemy, one by one, until they surrendered.
Being allied with the Red Army didn't hurt.
