Exactitude isn't necessary to convey a reasonable picture of the truth. What Trump did was paint a picture of a massive street demonstration as opposed to a group of potential conspirators on a roof. His is such a wild exaggeration (plural "thousands" as opposed to less than a dozen) that it communicated something so different that his credibility is open to question on this topic.
It reminds me of the kind of tales told by Hillary in Yugoslavia or Brian Williams in Iraq. So if you want to suffer the consequences of the slings and arrows for the occasional whopper hyperbole, just stick with your guy. Enjoy defending the indefensible, as it will leave you open to outright ridicule. In addition, if you do continue defending this, you should give up on criticizing the left for such deeds, in the interest of not being a hypocrite.

Then to be consistent, you shouldn't "nit pick" Brian Williams or Hillary for their whoppers. What Trump did was describe something resembling a massive street demonstration. That did not happen.

I posted it once. Then I replied to people so delusional they don't seem to get it, so I clarified it for them with data. That's what we do here at FR, reply with data.
The video was posted in defense of Trump, suggesting that he was telling the truth, so to get a sense of whether his claim was accurate I watched it. "Eight" is the only number supplied in the video. This is a question of whether or not Trump told the truth. Trump said "thousands," describing something resembling a massive street demonstration for which there is no support. That means he was engaging in pure hyperbole.
