Ted Cruz Talks to Robert P. George (Video) - Ted Cruz's Law Professor at Princeton

If you are looking for a substantive interview (beyond what we offer of course) of presidential candidates be sure to check out “Candidate Conservations” on EWTN hosted by Robert P. George who is a Princeton Law Professor, the chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom and founder of American Principles Project. His first episode that aired last night he spends almost an hour with U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).

One interesting tidbit is that Cruz was a former student of George’s while he was at Princeton University.

Even though the series is targeting Catholic voters most of the discussion is relevant to evangelicals as well. You simply do not hear these types of questions from the media.

Watch below:

Ted is brilliant...as a lawyer. He will make a great AG and a USSC justice when an opening occurs.

Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz said that Ted Cruz was among the smartest students he ever taught. He says that he and Cruz would debate while Dershowitz’s class would watch:

He was always very active in class, presenting a libertarian point of view. He didn’t strike me as a social conservative, more of a libertarian.

He had brilliant insights and he was clearly among the top students, as revealed by his class responses.

Won't it be wonderful when President Cruz appoints Supreme Court judges and Federal judges who follow the U.S. Constitution, just like him?

Idiot reporter. Cruz was NOT a former student of George's when Cruz was at Princeton. Now that he is no longer at Princeton, Cruz is NOW a former student of George's.

There is a hardly a reporter in the world who doesn’t make that blunder.

But my REAL pet peeve is reporters who feel compelled to say, “FORMER President Abraham Lincoln.”

I can’t listen to Cruz.

“And...and...and...”

And...and...and...that nasal voice, like a dentist’s drill.

Just finished watching the interview. Here are a few unsolicited thoughts:

Full disclosure: I was favoring Cruz but could be persuaded otherwise.

It was a very pro-Cruz interview. After all, it was conducted by his former professor. I would like to see Trump on the program and be given the same questions for comparison’s sake.

Cruz is obviously a brilliant Constitutional scholar. He is not just an intellectual, he is a conservative intellectual. He has a mastery of history and the application of reasoning. He has an impressive mind. If any Cruz bashers deny it one need only point them to this interview.

The biggest challenge Cruz has is he lacks charisma. Love him or hate him, Trump has charisma in spades. Cruz is a bit too soft-spoken for his own good. His sincerity, however, is not in doubt. He means what he says and says what he means. His impressive resume of action, especially as Solicitor General of Texas, back this up.

I don’t always agree with Cruz but after watching this interview he leaves me feeling confident that he has a plan of action, knows how to get this country back on track and has the determination to get the job done. A President Cruz would certainly move this country in the right direction.

Nobody is saying anything about Princeton Law school. Robert George is a law professor at Princeton, teaching law, like Mr. Smith, a biology teacher at Howard High.

I agree with your comment, except that “the biggest challenge Cruz has is he lacks charisma,” and “Trump has charisma in spades.”

Gotcha. I see he teaches undergrad courses in different legal theories. When I read the headline I was like “uh, Princeton doesn’t have a law school and even if they did, Ted Cruz went to Harvard!” That’s how the headline reads. Not your fault, obviously.
