There are 3 possible answers on the federal form (actually I don’t know, but I’m guessing).
1) No, I do not own any guns
2) Yes, but I keep them safely locked up
3) None of your DAMN BUSINESS
Guess who gets the highest level of attention by the authorities.
Just the sort of information that people want entered into their not so private electronic medical records and data bases.
Very Hitleresque. I’d just tell them that I don’t own any guns and let it go at that. Everybody is happy. They asked the question and I answered it. Then we can get down to the non-political reason why I was there in the first place.
But what is new is that ObamaCare has forced doctors in to this Digital Medical Records BS.
You can't see your medical records but the government can.
Whereas there is mandatory electronic centralization of health records, this is nothing short of a stealth gun registry.
I was asked once and told the nurse it was none of her beeswax. About the same time I was asked whether there was violence in the home and maybe was I abused. I told her I was a trial attorney and no one messes with me.
Just handle this like your Father would do, “it is none of your gawd damned business”. Or as your Mother would, “that is not the area of your concern”, if you are of the more polite sort.
My HMO has had that question on their health survey for several years. I’ve always left it blank.
I’ll just keep replying “Ehh..What’s up Doc?” every time they ask.

My medical group had a questioner that asked about gun ownership. I don’t own one but I still refused to answer the question . when I refused to answer they wanted me to initial the question. I refused to do that.
I am a firm believer that the reason for the right to bear arms is to assure us that are government is responsive to us rather then us being responsive to them
The American Academy of Pediatrics endorses gun control. Its official position on firearms asserts that the absence of firearms in homes and communities is "the most effective measure to prevent suicide, homicide, and unintentional firearm-related injuries."
The only questions I would ask of my patients is tips on gun types or ranges closeby....
I have not been asked this by my doctors. If they did ask me, I would say. “Do you have a gun at your house”?
