The incident widely reported as a rampage 'school shooting' in Arizona at the Flagstaff campus on October 9th may have been legitimate self defense. If you look closely at the photograph, it is clear that Steven Jones suffered some blows to the head. His lower lip is swollen, and you can see abrasions on it and one to the his right below the lip. There is also a abrasion just to his left and above his left eyebrow. It appears that Jones had legal possession of the Glock pistol. It would have been legal for him to have carried it in his car in Arizona.
Jones, 18, claimed he and two friends were first attacked and beaten outside an apartment complex in the Oct. 9 incident and then chased to his car by another group of students who shouted obscenities and threatened to kill them
But the surviving victims and other witnesses told varying stories that corroborated some of Jones' statements and contradicted others.
Jones, who wept during police interviews, claimed he got his Glock pistol from the car and told the pursuers, who were then surrounding his friends, that he had a gun. He said he shot two of the attackers, again saying they would kill him, when they charged him.
Blows to the head can easily be lethal, as can attacks by multiple assailants. If Jones version of events is correct, or if he can show a jury that it was reasonable for him to believe that his version was correct, he could easily be justified in his use of deadly force to defend himself and others.
Jones cooperated fully with police; he even sought their protection when they came to the shooting scene.

Hands and feet kill a lot of people in the US each year.
Thank you for posting this.
(didn’t know you had a studied/degreed in Meteorology, awesome! I am a weather geek)
My career was as a professional meteorologist in U.S. Army Research, Development, Testing and Evaluation.
Awsome!
In this case, what is usually unspoken but inferred by not being spoken may not be the case. If there had been a racial component, Dean Weingarten is not the sort to keep it quiet, unlike the lamestream media.
Interesting follow up.
Thanks for posting.
First off, were the white guys the aggressors?
Watch them being surrounded in this video...

Second was there reason for the white guys to feel threatened?
Watch these guys describe the black crowd assaulting the white guys...

Finally at the front of this video you can see who surrounded who...

I got URL wrong on that last video, too lazy to refind it. Just showed the crowd surrounding the white fellows in it before the shooting (before they even ran for their lives after being hit).
Jones wasn’t 21 so I can’t see how he ‘possessed’ a handgun legally. Don’t have a problem with the outcome of the engagement. Shows the stupidity of the handgun 21 years cutoff.
It is not illegal to posses a handgun from 18 years old to 21 years old.
It is illegal to purchase a handgun from a federally licensed dealer until the person is 21 years old.
It is one of those stupid quirks in firearms law.
Nationwide? As Johnny Carson would say: "I didn't know that."
stupid
Yes.
Federal law does not prohibit possession by adults less than 21, but some states might. I know that Arizona does not do so.
