Dilbert creator Scott Adams said Friday afternoon that if Donald Trump survives the ongoing controversy about whether he made fun of New York Times reporter's disability, he will be a lock to win the presidency.
"If he survives this one, he's invulnerable," Adams said.
Adams took to Periscope on Friday afternoon to promote his new book, How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big: Kind of the Story of My Life, and answered questions from fans.
Recently, Adams has written about his conviction that Donald Trump will win the presidency, based on his use of sophisticated techniques of public persuasion. Adams told Reason magazine that Trump uses perceived insults to beat back opponents:
"What I [see] in Trump," says Adams, is "someone who was highly trained. A lot of the things that the media were reporting as sort of random insults and bluster and just Trump being Trump, looked to me like a lot of deep technique that I recognized from the fields of hypnosis and persuasion."

This guy's "don't you know who I am" schtick is weak. Sorry NYT reporter, this election is not about you or the articles you wrote in the 80's.
He’s a character, and nobody’s fool. That’s for sure.
I would love to hear from President Trump’s SOTS speech: “My fellow Americans, today I told the employees of the Education, Transportation, Commerce and the IRS you’re FIRED! Thank you.”
Now that you mention it.
Alan is one of my troika for President (Palin, West, Bolton). I am leaning Palin President, West VP, Bolton SoS. I would like to see West given a huge stack of pink slips and told fix the bureaucracy.
If he beats the so called “disability flap”?????
The Reporter was a goofy individual who used his disability to get leverage above other reporters in striking the “fear of the PC police” against them if they did not pander to him or his disability. On top of that, the SOB was a liberal plant.
This was a staged event and it was solely meant to make a public issue of the fact. They knew Trump was a Yankee and unlike people from the south, uses extensive hand and other gestures as he speaks...unlike us southerners.
They knew that and simply laid in wait for the golden opportunity to flaunt their lies.
And Trump stomped on the trap.
That's the only way that PC culture can die. It must be stomped on and no safe place can survive.
PC must die
You, watching this at home ... worship me"
No real comment here, I just wanted to read that again.
This is a guy that draws comics right? Who cares what he thinks?
-— why is it okay for obama to mock disabled people but not trump, hmm? -—
Is it OK to mock disabled people or not?
Dunno exactly what Trump said — the link in the article was 404’d — but it seems to me that at worst, a single remark doesn’t equate to a drumbeat of cruel derision. People ought to be able to tell the difference between a mosquito bite and a swarm of bee stings. Hypocritical oversensitivity is a hobgoblin of today’s left.
What was the context? Can someone say? There was a link in the article but it was 404’d (and Trump is even claiming he didn’t, meaning it could be a matter of how it was meant to be taken).
If that’s what Trump meant, it makes sense. Not shame on you for being disabled, but shame on you for using it to claim an advantage far beyond what common consideration would give it.
“Faggot lying scumbags” sounds crude and it is, but it is also true and precise.
In moderate terms of equivalence, it might be said “gay alternative-viewed, possibly skewed persons”.
The term ‘faggot’ is a more inflammatory and derogatory version of homosexual, but homosexuals do not like to be called homosexual, they prefer the word they co-opted for themselves, “gay” which is more in line with rainbow and love, gay rights, marriage equality and other terms they have imbued their image profiles with, attempting to signify normalcy, utopia and a weird ‘attractiveness’ of hipness and coolness.
The homosexual population of the NY Times has grown over the last 20 years as they have clustered and covertly promoted and recruited each other over heterosexuals who felt uncomfortable or were made to feel uncomfortable in the environment created. There are many stories in NYC chronicling the rise of the ‘gay’ population and their ascendancy into media that were considered prestigious such as the NY Times. Local reportings in the Village Voice, etc were openly celebrating the ascendancy and prevalence of ‘gays’ and gay-friendly attitudes in NYC with special notes referencing the NY Times and special columns written by homosexuals that were inside the MY Times. Today most of the NY Times editorial staff are homosexual.
And it didn’t help that the NY print media was experiencing business contractions as the new internet based news expanded and social media put pressure on the old media to come up with something new or become obsolete. Remember too, that when the financial collapse occurred in 2008, that by 2009 major print media organizations were begging for bailouts, subsidies and reinstitution of the Fairness Doctrine. In other words, the time was ripe for perverted leftists to take over.
It also helped that Carlos Slim became the NY Times largest shareholder. Slim is Mexican and Lebanese but more importantly he is very close to the homosexual Mayor of Mexico City (24 million people) who prosecutes Christians for hate speech against homosexuals (I avoid using the term ‘gay’). So he fits write in with the homosexual culture of the NY Times.
The term ‘lying’ is used to describe their tactic of turning their views into a fiction which is the case in so many narratives they have created, that it is a shock when they actually report fairly on politics which is rare. The present thread subject is one of numerous examples where the NY Times and their cultural affiliates try and turn the issues on their head to change the subject and control the narrative.
The term ‘scumbag’ merely expresses the view that what they do and the way they do it are abhorrent and useless to main street Americans.
With the leadership of Donald Trump we are becoming galvanized to fight back and it is shocking to many Americans who have fallen into a stupor of blithe routines of peace and moderation. I believe Donald is doing this to prepare us for something he sees that is frightening. He wants us on a warrior footing because I believe he sees awful terrorism ahead. Watch him at his rallies, watch the YouTube recordings and you will see a man who is angry, who sees destruction and who sees complacency. His reference to Muslims, 9/11, the horrors going on right now in Europe (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44vzMNG2fZc) that are not being reported by the national media, and the fact that in 2000 he foresaw and published a vision of a bigger terrorist attack in association with Osama Bin Laden, the fact that he states that what happened in Paris is nothing. nothing to what is coming. all of his expressions point to a man that is terrified and very angry. So he is reaching out to us to wake up and to cast out political correctness, to prepare for what’s coming. to rebuild our lives by first preparing ourselves mentally and that will include rebuilding our military to be stronger than it has ever been. I think Donald Trump sees war in our future and he’s trying to get us awake so that we can be ready and act to save the country. At the same time he remains positive and uplifting which is certainly a trait developed and inured by his Sunday attendance at the Presbyterian Church of Norman Vincent Peale. His message is we can do better but we must be awake to the realities.
So “faggot lying scumbags” is appropriate today as fitting to a concise blue collar expression that we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore. I would prefer a civil development but there’s no time for niceties, we must move quickly. Diplomacy and civility are now accompanied by swords at the ready.
The term “gay” comes from the Old Provencal “gai,” which meant “homosexual.”
Maybe. But ‘gay’ was/is defined as lighthearted, nonserious, humorous and pleasant. There may be a coincidence of terms.
Hey Dilbert, understand this fake outrage and the whiners at the NYTs are trying to cover up the fact about the reported NJ celebration over 9/11.
