I see some big time advantages to a passenger container or pod.
I also see lots of mostly self serving nay saying.
One thing guaranteed though, there will probably be a long noisy debate.

Passenger's wouldn't wait to board, but would have to sit in a cabin pod for possibly prolonged periods while they get transferred onto the plane. Anything the airlines do is not anymore for the comfort/convenience of the passengers. It's for the bottom line of the airline. If they want to speed up boarding, then don't allow any carry ons (with the exception of small things like diaper bags, and computers), and do a much better/faster job with baggage handling.

This actually seems like a good idea.
Why did Europeans come up with it?
To: Winniesboy
I think something similar was tried a while back.
A better ideas might be a bus like vehicle without engine that could be winched or pushed into the bay of a cargo plane. Virtual Windows and it might be possible to make the vehicle able to be jettisoned in an emergency.

Heck, why bother with all that take off and landing cycle. Passenger pod drop off, easy peasy...Multi destination drop-offs, continuous flight.

Integrated bathrooms?
What about transfers? Standbys?
Most trips today include flying to a hub, transferring to another plane.
Lose a pod similar to losing luggage. LOL

The extra weight of a double body and associated increased fuel costs would totally negate any savings in time.

They used to call them cattle cars.

I have no urge to enter the plane earlier than I have to. The seats are cramped, the passengers often stink, & the ambiance is that of a cattle car.
Loading passengers into pods then loading the pods on the planes means I have to spend even more time in this hell.
No thanks.

Who knew we had so many genius aircraft engineers on this forum, all of whom are apparently superior to the engineers that Airbus has. Afterall, Airbus builds crappy little planes....../s
I call it the arrogance of the unknown. People assume that because their particular concern is not addressed in this little article, that they are the only ones smart enough to contemplate the concern.

One thing for sure whatever scheme’s they come up with, it is going to cost more to travel by air.
BTW I haven’t flown for about 3 years now, have the price of air travel got cheaper with the decrease in fuel costs??? I know there was time when lower fuel prices meant lower ticket prices.
