According to Turkish media, Ankara halted the flights of its aviation over Syria.
ANKARA – Turkey has suspended its Air Force flights over Syria in the international coalition campaign in the fight against the Islamic State after the downing of the Russian Su-24 Fencer bomber, Turkey's Hurriyet newspaper reported Friday, citing diplomatic sources.
On Tuesday, a Turkish Air Force F-16 downed the Russian bomber 4 kilometers from the Turkish border. Both the Russian General Staff and the Syrian Air Defense Command confirmed that the Su-24 never crossed into Turkish airspace and was shot down over Syrian territory, citing precise objective control data.

Likely they know the Russians intend to shoot them down, the next time they try to bomb the Kurds in Syria.
Turkey needs to be stopped from treating the Kurds like they are Armenians...
IMO, Turkey opened the Pandora’s Box.
Today’s chatter that Assad and Russia could officially recognize an INDEPENDENT Kurdish State that includes parts of Eastern Syria could have Erdogan spooked.
They are already losing Police and Soldiers fighting unrest in the Kurdish parts of Turkey.
gotta wonder why a NATO member country is shooting down Russian jets that are bombing a terrorist organization responsible for countless atrocities against other NATO countries.

Who knows where the truth lies but I was always suspicious of Turkey’s evidence that the downed Russian plane was in Turkish airspace. This could easily have been doctored.
My guess is that Russia had on previous occasions been in Turkish airspace a few times but had stopped this. Turkey is now on Bad Vlad’s shiite list which is not a good place to be. One false move....and.....

Because the Kurds can cut ISIS off from the rest of the Turkish Border that they don’t already control.
Lots of news yesterday that the Kurds had made a significant advance under the cover of heavy Russian Airstrikes. (and with some new Russian toys of their own).
So much so that Obama’s “Moderate” Headchoppers are threatening to come to AQ’s aid, if the Kurds don’t withdraw.

What happens next around the border city of Jarabulus is the big thing to watch, I think. It seems to be the main Raqqa-Turkey supply route.
Erdogan stopped the Kurds from taking it a couple of months ago by bombing the hell out of them, and has threatened, several times, to attack them again if they cross the Euphrates river.
If the Kurds are unleashed, they can cut Jarabulus, while the Russians/Syrians take Azaz, and cut off supply to Aleppo and Rebel-held Western Syria.
kind of makes you wonder just how deep the rabbit hole goes.
because they SHOULDN’T be in NATO anymore. They are not secular anymore. They ARE dangerous and let ISIS roam freely.

I’m 47. I’ve been told there was a strategic reason to have Turkey in nato once. I dont know if it still exists.
ZeroHedge reports that “Putin effectively accused the US of leaking the coordinates of the Russian plane to Turkey, which was merely a hitman acting with the blessing of the Pentagon.” (I think the same story appeared in the Mirror.) So the Russians reported the coordinates to the US as part of the deconflicting effort.
I was wondering how come two Turkish jets just happened to waiting in the right spot for the Russian jet. Now I know. It was a setup. And guess who ordered the setup.
That may be it-a rogue action. There is an alternative theory however that is equally plausible however. NATO is using ISIS in Syria the same way they used the mujahadeen in Afghanistan. Time will tell.

or he wouldn’t be shipping tons of weapons to Saudi Arabia and rebels, of which a majority are going to end up in ISIS hands.
