"The S-400 is an air defense system.
The reason we didn't have the system in Syria is because we thought our planes were flying at high enough altitudes where a terrorist could not reach them, they don't have weapons capable of downing our planes at the altitude of over 3 or 4 thousand meters.
And We could never think that we could be stabbed in the back by a country we regarded as our ally. Our planes operated at altitudes of 5-6,000 meters and were completely unprotected against potential attacks from fighter jets. We could never imagine that that could be possible otherwise we would deploy such systems in the area protecting our bombers against possible attacks.
We never did it because we regarded Turkey as our friend, we never expected an attack from that side.
This is why we regard this attack as that of a traitor. But now we that this is possible, and we have to protect our planes. This is why we deployed a modern system, the S-400, it has a pretty long range and it's one of the most effective systems of this kind in the world. We will not stop there. If we have to we will also deploy our fighter jets in the area.
Bottom line:
Another direct engagement by a Turkish fighter will be its last, and in fact now that Russia is prepared we would not be at all surprised to see Russia cross into Turkish airspace on purpose just to provoke Erdogan to repeat the events from last week, only this time with the Russian ready and prepared to retaliate to any engagement. In fact, the odds of Russia doing just that in the next few days are especially high.
But while the reason behind the S-400 deployment was largely known to most, where Putin's press conference took an unexpected detour was what he said just around 20:30 in, when in not so many words, Putin effectively accused the US of leaking the coordinates of the Russian plane to Turkey, which was merely a hitman acting with the blessing of the Pentagon.
This is what Putin said:
"We told our US partners in advance where, when at what altitudes our pilots were going to operate.
The US-led coalition, which includes Turkey, was aware of the time and place where our planes would operate.
And this is exactly where and when we were attacked. Why did we share this information with the Americans? Either they don't control their allies, or they just pass this information left and right without realizing what the consequences of such actions might be. We will have to have a serious talk with our US partners."
Putin is not a Muslim.
Erdogan is a Muslim.
Obama is a Muslim.
It is obvious why this happened.
Oh, I know you are adamant. But I can undermine your support by continuing to point out your inconsistencies, so I do it.
You must think that this is ALL Putin does? But even blind squirrels get acorns. Surely this is not the all excusing virtue, excusing things like the Crimea etc.
Would be more beneficial for Putin if he took a remedial courses in anger management and responsible managerial skills.
So when Russian planes violate the air space of Ireland, Norway, the UK, Sweden, when they turn off their transponders, when they send their submarines and warships into Norway’s water and that of other nations, it’s not Russian chauvinism and hyper aggression? It’s not wrong that Russia has been a serial violator of Turkey’s air space because Putin is so important and special that he gets to intimidate nations he’s not at war with. It’s part of a Russia First for some posters. Russia starts an undeclared war in Ukraine, and these putinistas rush to the flabby boobed man’s defense. Any critics of Putin are Nazis, Soros-funded, or some other fatuous propaganda.
While the US has developed a system to defeat these Russian missile systems, I do not know if those US systems have actually been purchased and deployed. (Most of the naval and AF budgets are going toward purchase of the F35, leaving other items on the shelf due to the enormous expense of the worthless junk plane).
“But I can undermine your support by continuing to point out your inconsistencies, so I do it.”
As I suspected. It’s a personal crusade.
We aren’t in High School HT. You might pretend, while you’re in mom’s basement that you’re some knight in shining nerd rage out to put one over on the cool kids, but let me assure you of a couple things.
First, I’m not out for support. I don’t court it. If I did, I wouldn’t piss o many pretend conservatives off. I’d cater to them. Nor do I think alienating myself from the crowd makes me ‘cool’. I’m awesome. There’s a difference.
Second, you acting like a Jimmy Swaggart lunatic isn’t likely to gather the masses to your ignoble cause.
Third, Everyone here is free to think A N Y T H I N G about me personally they choose to. I do not care.
Let me repeat that...I DO NOT CARE.
I typed it r e a l slow BTW, so you could ponder what that means to you. You care.
Hear that? Thats the sound of me not caring. OK I’ll admit it. The audible noise is me chuckling a bit, but still.
Lastly, Several of the people who agree with my positions were people I formerly spent many a night arguing with. They came to agree with me on several, but not all issues because they saw truth in my positions.
So carry on with your personal crusade for whatever deity you pretend is Jesus this week.
So how did he happen to have the system ready for off-loading the very day after the shoot-down?
If you’ve got a date with a girl in Istanbul, you’ll find her in Constantinople!
HEard that sound from the top of the Lindsay Hotel in Calcutta last night. Sounded like air raid sirens.
Anyone else remember Barky’s mocking of Romney during a debate when Romney stated that Russia was America’s #1 geo-political adversary?
That was after Putins incursions into Georgia, but well before Crimea, the Ukraine (and the shooting down of a civilian airliner), and of course, Russia’s support of Assad in Syria, spending far more time bombing the US supported anti-Assad (AKA Al Queda) forces than the ISIS forces (which are also anti-Assad!).
Go figure... Haven’t heard a peep from the very same new organization that held that very debate, have we?

Oslama is an evil, apostate, half-breed, muz-symp. A useful id10t to the real evil muzlums, but just as evil.
Simple. He has the best intel in the world. Ours is too busy rifling citizen’s Hentai collections. He knows Obama has been colluding with ISIS and that Turkey is inexorably linked to it. He simply did what any capable leader would do. He prepared to act rather than summon a focus group and a lawyer and the head of CNN.
I mean if America had leadership, we wouldn’t fight reactive wars either.
With this new wave of "refugees", how long will it be before France and Belgium (and others?) are Islamist states? How long before Muslims infiltrate NATO military forces?
Europe is beyond saving, unless some countries get smart, get out of NATO and the EU, close their borders, and kick out ALL of the recent arrivals.
Good. They have every right to say it. Looks very suspicious. We need to work together and take out ISIS, not lie and scheme for political points.
We better expel Turkey from NATO to regain some credibility.
“How long before Muslims infiltrate NATO military forces?”
Did you forget about who leads America? A muslim president and CIA chief. I’d say western militaries have been infiltrated for a LONG time. Then there’s the regular muslims in the officer/enlisted ranks already going muslim on a regular basis.
