Students at the University of Minnesota killed a proposed moment of silence for 9/11 victims due to concerns that Muslim students would be offended.
Theo Menon, a Minnesota Student Association representative realized that the university wasn't doing anything to memorialize 9/11.
So, on October 6, he introduced an MSA proposal to asking the university to institute a "moment of recognition" during the mornings of all future September 11ths.
The resolution in no way referred to Islam or to whether Islam itself is to blame for global terrorism. It did not require anyone to contemplate the fact that the terrorists responsible for 9/11 were Muslims. "It merely stated that 9/11 has had a lasting effect on many students, and ought to be reflected upon for a single moment, once a year."
But according to the Minnesota Republic, the resolution proved oddly controversial. MSA Director of Diversity and Inclusion, David Algadi, voiced "severe criticism" of the resolution.
Algadi was not the only one with this opinion. A majority of student government representatives sided with him, voting down the resolution in a 36-23 vote this month. If students had their way, there would be no moment of silence at UMN on Sept. 11, 2016.
But after the university became "inundated" with demands for a rebuke of the vote, UMN President Eric Kaler announced that he would formalize the moment of silence anyway. Kaler told the local press that he "wanted to make sure folks were aware that the U is committed to honoring the victims."

May send someone like you? Or are you hankering to jump ahead of His parade because you are hankering for the glory?
The live footage shot that day unedited should be shown every September 11th to commemorate that tragedy. Maybe if these students could see people leaping to their deaths and see and hear the sound of their bodies landing, and seeing the firemen putting on their equipment as they walked toward almost certain death. Might bring them to reality a bit.
You should. Because I refuse to hire a University of Minnestoopid graduate.
Maybe I’m just what God has in mind. Who are you to judge?
Now you go have a blessed and peaceful Thanksgiving.

Have you ever traced the actual spiritual history of that set of Jews, by the way. Very carnal and self glorifying at that point.
Eventually God did help, but it was after a large toll was taken. This is 100% biblical. This is also 100% un-PC to say.
I am not following a carnal parade any more. God has clearly outclassed that in my life. I have been blessed with just the beginning of insights (how high and wide and deep is the love of Christ) and already that has gone way ahead of where most of the world is.
You are talking out your ass anyhow, unless you have been actually tasked it is a bunch of puffery. I sooner watch for the rhythm, the pattern, the timing of God’s action — which works like music in its precision — and come in at exactly the right place. Which God has already set up for me, I need not presume at all.
Do you want the answer of who I am to judge? Or do you want to keep talking out your ass?
Remember another one who cowered out with “Who am I to judge.”
Muslim invaders are made of flesh, bone, blood & sinews like the rest of us, and they are not bulletproof.
They even come with their own built in damnation. Any “infidel” can accomplish that with the judicious use of pork.
That photograph sickens and angers me. It also moved me to pray for God to welcome that poor man’s soul into His heavenly kingdom.
We are at war with Principalities, Powers, and Dominions. In fleshly form they take on Islamic names.
I don’t give a crap what you think.
The only reason you’re free to spout nonsense is because far better men than you picked up weapons and went out and killed people who needed killing.
Your understanding of Scripture is childish at best, and complicit with the enemy at worst. It’s the creed of cowards and slaves.
Now you go have a nice Thanskgiving.

And the answer is simple, and you can even join that group but only if you do it right. The answer is, I read the bible with a heart to trying to understand it. The whole shebang, not just the phrases that thrill me.
If another one who had said “Who am I to judge” had done that, I think he’d have a wiser answer. Doesn’t mean I can judge everything under the sun, but it does mean I can address certain specific areas with a great confidence.
Actually, they are. Years and years of indoctrination will do that.
Please remember nearly every teacher in this nation was trained by godless Marxists in Marxist run colleges of education. This is true for both private and government schools.
If you truly “did not give a crap what I thought” then you would be satisfied to let my supposed nonsense be palpable to God, which is the place it matters.
However, you dearly do want me to respect those supposed “far better men than me who picked up weapons and killed people who needed killing.” Jesus called the indiscriminate employment of such an attitude, murder.
My understanding is maturing rapidly; it is yours that is cherry picked and childish.
Now try to actually give THANKS to the Lord for what He has provided, even if your itchy trigger finger continues to itch idly.
Have you ever seen a group of people more hellbent on demanding to be conquered?
It will happen, in God’s good plan, in God’s good time.
And you know? Once you DO give thanks to the Lord for what He has provided, then you might get the miracle of an actual call, something you don’t have to gin up at all.
Positions like this one and tons of other equally useless ones add substantially to the cost of college.
I suggest, though, you allow the cart to be behind the horse. You can’t gin up your own call any more than Moses was able to gin up his. He slew an Egyptian who was mistreating a Hebrew slave. Certainly Moses knew that God had forbidden such things. Trouble was, He had also forbidden Moses’ approach. Consequences: 40 years in the desert before deliverance. Then the burning bush spoke and things changed, drastically.
THIS, my friend, is a mature knowledge of God’s will and of scripture.
