Sounds like a load of BS to me. Why would France build a statue of a veiled Muslim woman?
Maybe she was originally supposed to be a Mexican woman.

Satire, right?
The statue was designed after the female human personification of...France.
“Marianne” was the name.

The Statue of Liberty was originally a lady truck driver from Quincy, Massachusetts.
I know this because the original designer was friends with one of the grandfathers of the barber who cuts my neighbor’s hair.
See, anybody can play this game.

Wikipedia says that Bartholdi’s idea for a statue in Egypt was intended to represent an ANCIENT Egyptian peasant woman.
France, after Napoleon’s invasion of Egypt, developed a mania for ancient Egypt. There were no Muslims in ANCIENT Egypt.

>>The Statue of Liberty was originally designed to be a Muslim woman, the Smithsonian Institution’s magazine says.
>>An article on the government-administered museumâs blog, Smart News, claims one of the designers of Lady Liberty drew inspiration from monuments in Egypt
Egyptian monuments?? Like the ones from thousands of years before Mo-Ham-Ed? Smithsonian is joining the bandwagon that says that everything from the middle east, regardless of the date, is now a muzlum invention?

Yeah, and the Eiffel Tower started out as a mineret.
Betholdi used his mother's face and his mistress's body as models for his statue, Liberty Enlightening the World.
