Wikipedia says that Bartholdi’s idea for a statue in Egypt was intended to represent an ANCIENT Egyptian peasant woman.

France, after Napoleon’s invasion of Egypt, developed a mania for ancient Egypt. There were no Muslims in ANCIENT Egypt.

Unless you ask damned near ANY Muslim who will claim that Mooselimbs pre-date the Ancient Egyptians with their revisionist jihadi history.

drew inspiration from monuments in Egypt

The last I heard the ancient Egyptians were not Muslim nor Arab. Why does this man (not you clearcase) write such such drivel?
