How alarmed were New Jersey officials by reports of Muslims dancing in the streets of Jersey City and Paterson on Sept. 11, 2001, to celebrate the destruction of the World Trade Center?
They feared riots would break out and were ready to send in the National Guard and the State Police to preserve order.
But John J. Farmer Jr., then the New Jersey attorney general and the state's chief law enforcement officer, said on Tuesday that he ordered an investigation that very day and found the reports to be bogus, more wild stories born in the stricken hours after the attacks.
Nevertheless, those ancient, false rumors were recycled as truth over the weekend by Donald J. Trump, who has folded them into his calls for the national registration of Muslims and possible closing of mosques.
Reporters were unable to find any evidence for his story, but Mr. Trump stuck with it in a television interview on Sunday. "It did happen," he said. "I saw it. It was on television."
Few people, if any, could address the circumstances more definitively than Mr. Farmer, who went on to serve as senior counsel to the Sept. 11 commission.

The press is insisting that NOBODY was dancing in celebration.
I'm talking about Trumps comments that thousands of Muslims were celebrating together in NJ that day and he saw it on television. He's wrong. It never happened. The thousands of happy Muslims in the U.S. that day mostly kept it to themselves and certainly did not gather in large numbers before television cameras to celebrate.
“I’m not talking about the press.”
You should be.
“It has long been established that the press in this country is full of liars and idiots.”
Exactly why you should be talking about the press on this.
No - they are denying it happened in America.
They admit it was in the Middle East.
Well the images I saw were from various sources around the world....I think “scores” were celebrating in Jersey. So its easy to take a bunch of images from around the world and think...”thousands” and then place them in one area. It’s a dig at Trump but it won’t cause lasting damage because many Americans remember the same images! Many Americans have seen what ISIS is doing now. Many Americans have seen what Hisan Nidal did at Fort Hood or what that Muslim did to that lady’s head last year in that Meat plant in the Midwest, or the clock boy...ect ect! Do you get the point now...I saw that muslim Calandar for 2001 that show planes crashing into the buildings in NYC for that month of September..I have that image saved! I read the times article about the little boy that had spoken to a reporter the day before and who had said to the writer...”See that trade center....it won’t be there tomorrow.” Do you get the point ....we in America have been betrayed!!!
There is one thing that Good men can do. We can start Code : Flight 93 comittees in our towns and associations....
we can meet and start to speak of the spirit of the flight 93 passengers who gave their lives to keep another tragedy from occurring. Some day a fellow might receive a call or a knock at his door...”Code Flight 93 Mayors’ office!” He will kiss his family and will prepare what he needs to prepare to take with him to counter an existential threat to his town or his nation. “Let’s Roll!” needs to become part of our lexicon! You say there weren’t many images...well FreeRepublic was around in 20001 and many freepers posted newspaper articles and images(which may not be hosted any more) but the articles will still be there. I’ll bet if some of us started going backward thru our posted thread and replies we’ll find the citations you are denying are there! Freerepublic doesn’t get rid of anything!
Howabout it older Freepers.....time to go back thru our posting histories so that folks like JediJones can get a refresher course in history!
JediJones needs to go post 51
You're probably correct, since, at least in my neck of the woods, muzzies celebrating would've been very hazardous to their health. Still, I don't doubt also that the media may attempting to "re-write history" to help their muzzie boy in the white hut.
Oh, for godsakes! You guys are unbelievable! You cannot say your man-god was actually wrong about something. What am I supposed to say about the press that I haven't said already on this thread or about a hundred thousand times in my 16 years on this forum?
They're liars and they're scoundrels, but on this one they're right, and Trump is wrong. Get over it.
This whole obama-ish messianic worship of Trump by his acolytes is so disturbing. Admitting to an error destroys the myth. I thought our side was smarter and wouldn't fall into such goofiness.
He's just a man. He's sometimes wrong. It goes with the whole being human thing.

And then I became a Republican."Donald Trump
RE: The Washington Post REPORTED the story about American Muslims in New Jersey dancing on the rooftops while the trade towers were coming down
Actually, I DID read the paragraph where WaPo reported it. It reads:
“In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners’ plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number
of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.”
—Washington Post, September 18, 2001
The only problem with the above report is the word “allegedly”, meaning, they don’t seem to be sure of it.
I will remind you that you said it, not me.
I recall the muzzies dancing in the streets.
While you're at it, tell this guy he is lying or unbelievable as well..

Is this all you got NYT? Is this the best news that’s fit to print? You could find nothing more important than this to put on the pages of your rag ...uh I mean newspaper?
If Jim saw the video that Trump claims he saw, somebody will produce a copy. Millions of DVRs were running that day. If Trump saw thousands of muslims celebrating in NJ on his television, somebody has the video and you will be vindicated. But nobody does. Sorry.
I mean VCRs not DVRs.
Oh brother, they are sure trying to make the most out of this nothing burger.
So you still insist that none of us saw what we did?
Interesting.
I also note that you’ll challenge everyone else, but not one certain specific person.
Come on, you’re right, aren’t you?
Who am I afraid to say that to?
