COLORADO SPRINGS â Colorado State Police have confiscated an improvised explosive device, or IED, from a man seen walking along the Highway 50 bypass Monday afternoon. A stretch of Hwy 50 from I-25 to Bonforte in Pueblo is now open after being closed as police investigated. Police say the device was in his hand and a Trooper immediately took the item from the suspect. The bomb squad was called in to remove the threat. It happened around 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.

They just walked up and took his bomb right out of his hand?
I think that a .30 caliber stop would have been more appropriate.

From the KOAA site:
” While the person was being detained, the trooper found a small “improvised device” in the person’s pocket. The device may have been explosive, according to state patrol, and a bomb squad was called to help with the investigation.”
May have been explosive?
Need more info.

I suspect that their defn of IED, and the more common Iranian IED are much, much different.

Maybe it was just a clock and Colorado Springs will face a $10 million lawsuit.

“While the person was being detained, the trooper found a small âimprovised deviceâ in the personâs pocket.”
In the public education system this is known as a clock.

So they stopped him by blowing him up?
Someone needs to teach Newsheadlining Classes to the yung and dum - you’d make a fortune!

If they ever stopped my work truck they would find all sorts of “improvised devices”.
Yeah - I bent that wrench to get to the far spark plug.
That piece of wood with the hook is for grabbing overhead wires.
Etc.

“May have been explosive” means it was likely a cell phone and it was being used to record the police stop. Cameras scare police far more than mere explosives.
