A handful of Donald Trump's supporters played right into the hands of Black Lives Matter when they roughed up one of their members who was heckling Trump at a rally in Birmingham, Alabama over the weekend. From the podium, Trump shouted to the heckler "get the hell out of here" and told security to "throw him out."
...Trump added fuel to the fire during an appearance on FOX News when he said, "Maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing." Trump also claimed the heckler, who has been identified as Mercutio Southall, was "looking for trouble."....
...
So what if Southall had turned up at a Cruz rally and began heckling? I can't see Cruz telling security to throw him out. Instead, Cruz would have invited Southall on stage and challenged him to a debate right then and there. Cruz would give Southall an opportunity to speak his peace and then Cruz would take his arguments apart. He would have taken a piece out of Black Lives Matter without so much as an angry word.
The bottom line is that Cruz would have taken the high road. Of course, such a thing would never happen with Trump. He knows no high roads, only the gutter. Since he cannot debate ideas, he insults people. Trump is the Don Rickles of American politics only without the humor.
Of course, Trump's supporters will defend him to the bitter end. But if one has to write about Republican presidential candidates and Black Lives Matter, I sure as hell would rather write about how Ted Cruz debated a member of Black Lives Matter than write about how a few of Donald Trump's supporters beat up a member of Black Lives Matter with Trump egging them on.

Any so-called conservative uttering the words, “high road,” should be sentenced to hard time listening to video of Bush speeches...all of them.
Im voting Trump ,period. If Cruz is the nomineesthen Ill vote for him, but his open borders pandering sorta turned me off. Trump would be our version of Putin, we need a strong leader. No BS, NO PC horseshyte, that time is over if we want to save the USA.

Cruz is what, 7% Nationally? His brand doesn’t sell.
Like the union thug who ripped the sign from the hands of a toddler. They don’t want debate, they can’t win one on facts, logic, common sense, or fair play, they want to take over someone else’s paid platform and use it for their agenda and to berate the person whose microphone they stole! Talk about delusional! But then again that’s all they’ve known for generations, take what others have paid for.
This teacher has a pretty good technique that would probably work well with those racist BLM hecklers.
As long as we insist on maintaining the "moral high ground", we will NEVER win the war on terrorism! We're in a conflict which we absolutely INSIST in playing by the rules - against a maniacal group who have NO rules! Rattlesnake Logic in dealing with terrorists.
After the Boston bombing the news media spent days and weeks trying to determine why these men did what they did. They want to know what America did to make these brothers so angry with us..
They want to know why these men were not arrested before they did something so terrible..
The media is in a tizzy about this new era of homegrown radicals and about why and how they can live among us and still hate us..
A Texan explained it this way:.
Here in west Texas , I have rattlesnakes on my place, living among us..
I have killed a rattlesnake on the front porch. I have killed a rattlesnake on the back porch. I have killed rattlesnakes in the barn, in the shop and on the driveway..
In fact, I kill every rattlesnake I encounter. I kill rattlesnakes because I know a rattlesnake will bite me and inject me with poison. I don't stop to wonder WHY a rattlesnake will bite me;.
I know it WILL bite me because it's a rattlesnake and that's what rattlesnakes do..
I don't try to reason with a rattlesnake or have a "meaningful dialogue" with it. I just kill it. I don't try to get to know the rattlesnake better so I can find a way to live with the rattlesnakes and convince them not to bite me.. I just kill them..
I don't quiz a rattlesnake to see if I can find out where the other snakes are, because (a) it won't tell me and (b) I already know they live on my place. So, I just kill the rattlesnake and move on to the next one..
I don't look for ways I might be able to change the rattlesnake to a non-poisonous rat snake. I just kill it. Oh, and on occasion, I accidentally kill a rat snake because I thought it was a rattlesnake at the time..
Also, I know for every rattlesnake I kill, two more are lurking out there in the brush. In my lifetime I will never be able to rid my place of rattlesnakes..
Do I fear them? Not really. Do I respect what they can do to me and my family? Yes!.
And because of that respect, I give them the fair justice they deserve. I kill them. As a country, we should start giving more thought to the fact that these jihadists' are telling the world their goal is to kill Americans and destroy our way of life..
They have posted graphic videos on the internet showing them beheading Americans. They are serious. They are exactly like rattlesnakes. It is high time for us to start acting accordingly!.
I love this country. It's the damn government I'm afraid of! Why? Look who's new in the White House!.
Arif Alikhan, Assistant Secretary for Policy Development for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Mohammed Elibiary, Homeland Security Adviser.
Rashad Hussain, Special Envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
Salam al-Marayati, Obama adviser and founder of the Muslim Public Affairs Council and is its current executive director.
Imam Mohamed Magid, Obama's Sharia Czar from the Islamic Society of North America.
Eboo Patel, Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships..
This is flat-out scary! The foxes are now officially living in the hen house... Now ask me why I am very concerned! Do you feel OK with this? How can this happen? - and when will we wake up? We are quiet while our country is being drastically changed!.
Neither Mr. Goldstein, nor Isara, seem to like Trump or his ownership of the polling.
So, does Isara ever post comments, or participate in a thread? Just wondering if he is on the payroll, somewhere, or is a regular I’ve somehow missed?
If it weren’t for Isara, I’m not all that certain how much helium would be produced on FR, for other candidates than Trump. There would be some, but not the mass produced content that Isara burns through.
But, not my business. I saw Trump in the title and perused before realizing this is not a pro-Trump thread.
The Current FReepathon Pays For The Current Quarter's Expenses?
From what I’ve been told by a FRiend who attended the Freeps outside Walter Reed hospital, Medea Benjamin will engage in debate-let the other person get a word in edgewise, at least. I don’t know, that’s what this FRiend who has engaged with her said. Black Lies Matter are nothing like that, they co-opt other people’s microphones and proceed to spew their violent bile at them. When they shouted down Bernie Sanders, of all people, you know they’re not there to “debate”.
Whether it’s true or not...it makes me want to vote for Trump even more.
You may be right because thats what Cruz does - he talks.
That would be a big mistake.
Cruz earned the right to be on that stage by attaining positions of increasing responsibility, including winning multiple state and federal elections. The heckler has done none of those things.
The heckler is trying to steal and usurp Cruz's accomplishment. By allowing the heckler onto his stage, Cruz would be giving the heckler access to an audience he hasn't earned, and would likely never get on his own, ever.
All it would do is encourage future wannabe's to try the cheap path to access and heckle future rallies.

Cruz is in the top four, per Real Clear Politics
Trump 27.5 Carson 19.8 Rubio 12.5 Cruz 11.3
LOL -from what I saw on video, nobody roughed this guy up. And why would I want to go to the effort of going to see any speaker and having someone I consider a criminal given a place on the stage and time to speak?
About as much collective wisdom in that group as a sports bar filled with a bunch of drunk guys named "Goober" or "Jimmy Bob" missing several from teeth as well as their high school diplomas. (And granted, others there who were not) . Just damn.
“Instead, Cruz would have invited Southall on stage and challenged him to a debate right then and there.”
I was at the religious liberty rally in Des Moines. Various amnesty groups planed themselves around the auditorium. When they started ranting, they were promptly whisked away. One guy who jumped up and started shouting was addressed by Cruz. Cruz said, “this is not a town hall, this is a rally for religious freedom. If you want to debate, come to one of my town hall meetings.” He was then escorted out. Cruz doesn’t have time to debate every idiot who disrupts his rallies.
.
Trump told the heckler to shut up because he had no intellectual tools with which to deal with him.
He had to sink to the heckler’s level (or more likely always is at that level)
.
The author is just guessing how Cruz would have handled this. He has no idea.
As far as how to handle the situation, 99 out of 100 times it is best to just toss them. They are only there to disrupt.
Once or twice, if it's to a candidates advantage, you could converse with them, to embarrass them. For example Trump threw out "reporter" Jorge Ramos and then brought him back, took his questions and handed Jorge his ass.
