A handful of Donald Trump's supporters played right into the hands of Black Lives Matter when they roughed up one of their members who was heckling Trump at a rally in Birmingham, Alabama over the weekend. From the podium, Trump shouted to the heckler "get the hell out of here" and told security to "throw him out."
...Trump added fuel to the fire during an appearance on FOX News when he said, "Maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing." Trump also claimed the heckler, who has been identified as Mercutio Southall, was "looking for trouble."....
...
So what if Southall had turned up at a Cruz rally and began heckling? I can't see Cruz telling security to throw him out. Instead, Cruz would have invited Southall on stage and challenged him to a debate right then and there. Cruz would give Southall an opportunity to speak his peace and then Cruz would take his arguments apart. He would have taken a piece out of Black Lives Matter without so much as an angry word.
The bottom line is that Cruz would have taken the high road. Of course, such a thing would never happen with Trump. He knows no high roads, only the gutter. Since he cannot debate ideas, he insults people. Trump is the Don Rickles of American politics only without the humor.
Of course, Trump's supporters will defend him to the bitter end. But if one has to write about Republican presidential candidates and Black Lives Matter, I sure as hell would rather write about how Ted Cruz debated a member of Black Lives Matter than write about how a few of Donald Trump's supporters beat up a member of Black Lives Matter with Trump egging them on.

The problem is that the BLM movement would begin stacking his events with folks more ready to debate and, while I full confidence is Cruz's ability to debate anyone, it would be a distraction and only encourage more protests.
If/when this happens again, the candidate hosting the event should ignore the protestor, have people on your team start chanting "All Lives Matter!!!" to get the crowd chanting it as well while your security team peacefully (as possible) removes the distraction.
NOT. Have you not seen this before with I think it was code pink? She stood there next to them and they had a mini-debate which left her speechless.
Cruz is amazing.
Were they polling at a monastery? This directly reflects against yesterday’s WaPo polling, finding Trump closer to 30 pts ahead of any and all second place seat warmers, on all four major political issues.
I dunno about CBS here, but that seems to odd for words, like maybe a fixed universe of fixed polling, compared to every other result.
But it is true. I saw him do it with I think code pink. Debated her, never raised his voice and left her speechless. Awesomeness.
While tangential, your post prompted me to look up this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Theory_and_Practice_of_Oligarchical_Collectivism
For several months we have wanted someone to stand up to the Black Lives Matter folks, and tell them to shove it.
Donald Trump is the first one to do it, and here Aaron Goldstein advocates he basically take it back, and give the guy a global platform to spew from.
As far as I know, there’s no confirmation this guy was “roughed up”.
What we do know is the protester’s record, and it isn’t a pretty one.
He’s a public malcontent.
I’ve dealt with his type before. I and a few others had to take one down at a local political event and remove his ass from the premises.
Later we found out he was a habitual attacker at these events. He later tried to suit the host of the political even to no avail.
What a piece of work he was.
We go and protest outside with signs and try to persuade people with facts.
They attack with lies and physical abuse if they can.
I guess that’s why it is such a disgusting sight to see the supporters of some candidates here lie for months at a time after being set straight on topics.
It’s a Lefty tactic. It’s GOPe like. It seems to me like the stuff of James Carville and Lanny Davis.
#2 - you might want to get on board with Trump/Cruz 2016 real quick, unless, of course, you want to see Hitlery win that bad.
Cruz has done so calmly, debated, I saw it myself. It is the absolute best way to shut it down.
Review the video of the BLM folks at Bernie Sanders' rally. There would have been no debate. They are not there to debate. The guy would have just launched into a filibuster speech, ranting at length, until Cruz finally told security to take him away.
You can only debate with people interested in finding out the truth. The BLM folk know the truth is not on their side, so they will not debate, only rant.
Do not give these thugs any legitimacy or importance.
Cruz did it with code pink. Left her speechless.
You never invite a protester up on stage. You instantly give them recognition. You can’t take that back.
If you wish to address what they were saying, do it. Then provide your intellectually superior rebuttal.
Meanwhile he’s waiting outside and will never hear it.
He doesn’t deserve to.
Cruz rallies as large as Trumps? If so, where?
Trump did the right thing—you can’t debate people like that—they just want to scream and make a scene. What would Cruz do? let the man have the stage? Run Like Bernie Sanders? Trump had little control —his people were on top of the guy (as well they should) just as they would a gun toting terrorists. The fellow knew what he was doing with his outburst and was lucky to get out with just a few scrapes. Media stages event—we will see more of them to come. Watch as the Debate scene is staged by Cruz doesn’t happen. Ted will be cut to pieces by the MSM and GOPe for his “Shut Down the Government” gambit.
What a Load.
Cruz did it with a code pink protester. I watched it.
Cruz opts to wrestle with pigs.
Amen. It was awesome.
“when they roughed up one of their members”
This whole article is based on this lie. I was there. I saw what happened.
