Brussels metro shut as Belgian capital put on maximum alert
Reuters ^ | 11/21/2015 | Philip Blenkinsop

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel declined to give the reason why the authorities raised the alert level but told a news conference the government would review the security situation on Sunday afternoon.

The metro system would remain closed until then, in line with the recommendation of the crisis center, he said.

The crisis center website said it was calling on local authorities to cancel large events, urge people to avoid crowds, postpone soccer matches, close the Brussels metro for the weekend and stepping up the military and police presence.

Suspected militant Salah Abdeslam, 26, returned home to Brussels from Paris after the attacks, when his elder brother Brahim blew himself up at a cafe.

Fears of the risk he still poses prompted the cancellation last week of an international friendly soccer match in Brussels against Spain. The crisis center said weekend games in the top two professional divisions should now be postponed.

The alert level for the whole country was raised following the Paris attacks to level three out of four, implying a "possible or probable" threat. Previously, only certain sites, such as the U.S. embassy, were at level three.

Belgium, and its capital in particular, have been at the center of investigations into the Paris attacks - which included suicide bombers targeting a France-Germany soccer match - after the links to Brussels emerged. Three people detained in Brussels are facing terrorism charges.

French authorities have said the attacks were planned in Brussels by a local man, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, 28, who fought for Islamic State in Syria and was killed in the siege of an apartment in the Paris suburb of St. Denis on Wednesday.

As your graphic shows, O’Venal is correct. The red circle shows that ISIS is contained to the Earth! Mars ain’t got ‘em, the Moon ain’t got ‘em, just us.

Thanks,O’Venal!

LOL! Well, Paris was very peaceful for a week after the Muslim terrorist attack there last week. The citizenry there just locked themselves down on their own places.

See, it works!

"My client was very scared, they did not talk much and he [Abdeslam] did not mention the presence of weapons, but he wore a kind of big jacket, possibly a suicide belt," she was quoted as saying by L'Echo.

The lawyer fully embraced the serpent.

Event to the extent of sitting next to him while she thinks he's wearing a suicide vest!

The utter refusal of Leaders to admit the obvious also simply means they are not going to, have no intentions of stopping, and will continue to demonize, (on a vast scale) the voices of opposition.

They expected the backlash but ‘believe’ they are capable of containing and controlling it....And frankly thus far they are doing just that regardless of the fallout from, which of course is not their concern.

I didn't say you were wrong, just that you are a cynic.

I appreciate that in a person...

You have to remember that DC is run by Leftists who love and protect Muzzies since they are both on the same side of the struggle against humanity with their goal of destroying it.

I am an optimist, but guardedly so, but with a dry form of humor that sometimes can be cynical, sarcastic, or a little morbid.

We know this is exactly the conditions Islamic terrorists and their supporters/followers desire and celebrate....’chaos’....great revenue expenditures of costs for police and military,...a population shivering in fear,... Leaders occupied completely with attempts to calm the masses. ..Closed businesses schools and the like....while they sit in some hotel room watching the show they created.

Do you really believe we’re in any better position here?

I certainly do not. Especially with our southern border standing wide open...

No they simply want control of the masses.....with the end result control of resources.

What better way to stop fighting , if you don't want troops on the ground, then to create a mass exodus of their fighting age men so that their number of recruits are not there to fill the ranks.....get enough out of those countries and you can go in fairly light and take over...or change leaderships.

Next stage is for the fat cats acquire the resources of the country...Africa comes to mind....rich with resources but hard to get to because of the many conflicts....get the young fighters and potential fighters out thru mass immigration and it's a good go for the resources....at worst “manageable”.......At the same time control the flow of 'human capital'....

Any border control enhancements will be to control that 'Human capital' flow and streamline it's system into countries for better efficiency...including our own.

Scotland Yard has sent a terse statement about apparently still ongoing incident on Blackfriars Road. It says:

At 13:44hrs on Saturday, 21 November, officers stopped a vehicle on Blackfriars Road at the junction with Cambridge Circus.

The occupants of the vehicle - three men - were arrested.

Local road closures are in place.

Enquires continue.

from your post:

Government ministers are now talking about sending police to search every house in Molenbeek in the near future. It's a strange feeling....

Sounds as if they have very specific info on something more serious than Aks and grenades....

BBC confirms house to house search in Molenbeek.

15:31 UK time

The BBC’s Europe Editor Katya Adler says Belgium’s interior minister wants house-to-house checks in the western Brussels district of Molenbeek.

Molenbeek has a large ethnic Moroccan population and has been dubbed a hub for jihadists. Its poverty, social exclusion, high rate of unemployment and weak political leadership have been highlighted as problems, too.

The “Guardian reader” sounds surprised that Molenbeek is a focus of government attention given the terrorism threat. From what I’ve read it’s a well-know haven for Muslim extremists and has had a problem with jihadis leaving to join ISIS.

The news keeps referring to these Muslim killers as "Belgian citizens". They are no more Belgian than I am. They just happen to have Belgian citizenship and live there in huge numbers through the progressivism and delusions of the country's loose immigration laws and native population.

The fact remains most of these "Belgians" are Muslim first, last, and always. That is where their ultimate allegiance lies - not in the infidel Crusader enemy country of "Belgium".

The sooner everybody (including us) recognizes that fact, the better chance we will have of surviving and defeating this world-wide foe. We just keep importing this political/religious virus into our shores and hope for the best all the while congratulating ourselves on our tolerance. In the end we will have nothing but increasing trouble, despair, violence, and political and personal agony as the Caliphate tightens it's unrelenting wicked grip.
