Press laughed off Romney's Mali terror warning in 2012

Three years before masked gunmen stormed a hotel in the capital of Mali, killing at least 27 people early Friday morning, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney was mocked by certain media figures for warning about the spread of terrorist activity in the small West African country.

During the final 2012 presidential debate, which focused on foreign policy, Romney cautioned that instability in the Middle East had given way to the rise of terrorist influences in several key countries, including Libya, Syria and Mali.

But for some in media, the longstanding tradition of administrations trading information with presidential candidates apparently didn't matter, and Romney's effort to tie Mali the rise of terror groups to the Middle East became a punchline.

"I bet Romney couldn't point to Mali on a map," Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas said at the time on social media.

Longtime Clinton ally and CNN contributor Paul Begala added elsewhere, "POTUS has mentioned Israel at least three times Romney has cited Mali twice. Really."

Vox.com's Matt Yglesiasjoked in a note of his own, "Romney going for the vote of single-issue Mali voters. Obama for people who don't like Osama bin Laden."

He added later, "Teachers unions have thrown Northern Mali into chaos."

And no one remembers it now because he gave the election to Obama. Starting with that, I might add.

Yep. That first debate, Romney destroyed Obama and had conservatives supporting him. Then the globalists told him to fall on his sword.

Who cares what that GOP-E stooge did.

He was the absolute worst possible candidate the GOP-E could have propped up against Obama.

They wanted to lose!

Probably wouldn't risk somebody wanting to eat it for dinner.

Lots of thing Romney said was right on. And remember, Romney was not a insider and like all insiders they had limited information.

Now we have another candidate that is not an insider with privileged information. Trump. And damn he has been right 100% of the time. He seems to have insider info. And the MSM and the communists Democrats along with some of the so called Republicans are trying to trash him.

TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT. Don't make the biggest mistake America could make, we need Trump.

Yep, Romney was way too far left. Yep, he was a horrible candidate. Yep, he ran a poor campaign. Unfortunately, GOP primary voters chose him and he got enough delegates for the nomination. Most people, even those who are political neophytes, understood that either Romney or Obama was going to be taking the oath on Jan. 20, 2013.

Despite scurrilous charges, I am no Romney apologist. I would have fought him tooth and nail over domestic policy because he was so wrong in so many areas. Many elected real conservatives in his own party would have stood up to him.

It is a tragedy that so many Americans apparently did not understand or care enough that the most important job of the President of the United States is Commander in Chief . . .executing foreign policy to protect Americans and be the leader of the Free World. We can fight over abortion, gay marriage, welfare, healthcare and a myriad of other domestic issues. But none of those matter if our country and the entire Western World is under siege by Islamofascists and our safety and very way of life is threatened. We have no Commander in Chief and what the current occupant of the White House is going to do before he is finished is very, very bad for freedom. We have a leader who is a Muslim apologist. Allowing him to stay in power was an attempt at national suicide. We will see if the suicide is successful.

The one thing and the most important thing on which Romney was correct is this:
http://www.thepoliticalinsider.com/mitt-romney-strategy-to-fight-jihad/
TRANSCRIPT: “It’s this century’s nightmare. Jihadism. Violent, radical, Islamic fundamentalism. Their goal is to unite the world under a single jihadist caliphate. To do that, they must collapse freedom-loving nations like us.”

“He seems to have insider info.”

Perhaps, but you really don’t need insider info to make the calls Trump makes — you just have to be willing to observe what’s right in front of us; and apply actual logic to those observations.
* Illegal immigration: even the MSM reports frightening statistics;
* Terror attacks: The Islamists have declared war on western civilization many, many times. One just has to extend them the curtesy of believing them (and then take them out).
* Etc.

I may be the only one here, but I liked Romney. I was heartbroken when he didn’t win.

If Romney actually had a spine he would call out and ridicule these simpering halfwits publicly.

IF he had a spine.

It’s nice to know the press has time to laugh between their boot licking duties when Obama and Hillary step in crap.
