The head cheerleader at one Massachusetts high school has been banned from cheering for the rest of the season after she tweeted an offensive comment about immigrants.
Caley Godino, a senior at Revere High School in Revere, Massachusetts, was asked to watch the political debates leading up to the 2016 presidential election. Her teacher tweeted a comment about the low voter turnout for November's mayoral race, which prompted Caley to post a controversial tweet.
"When only 10 percent of Revere votes for mayor cause the other 90 percent isn't legal," she reportedly tweeted. (Her profile is private.)
As of 2010, 27 percent of Revere's population was born outside the United States. Caley says she intended the comment to express her political views, not her views on race, according to MyFoxBoston.com. Her political views were inspired by Donald Trump. But after several students complained, school officials
"If you're going to stand up and say something that other people will find offensive, then you need to be prepare to deal with the ramifications of that," Superintendent Dianne Kelley told MyFoxBoston.com.
Caley is now banned from cheering for the rest of the season, according to her mother.
The superintendent said that the tweet was not the sole cause for Caley's punishment, though out of concern for student privacy, could not comment further. Students and teachers at Revere High are now joining together to create a curriculum to address diversity and acceptance.
Facist ...
I don’t think we’re in America anymore, Toto. This is like Nazi Germany.
“Common sense” speech control.
The Left’s answer to the first Amendment.
Pretty damn subjective isn't it. The kid's comment was mild. If that's considered some kind of hate speech, we really are screwed.
Parents should sue for trauma.
Nothing racist about her comment. Maybe they meant islamaphobic or homophobic./sarc
She can't even abide by our Constitution, and she has a position of authority?
After the events in Paris on 11/13, I will be adding
this to my posts for the next week. I'm certain our
turn is coming again soon. We stand united against
Islamic extremists.
Some music for reflection if the mood strikes you.

An honorable mention also goes out to Lassana Bathily , a Muslim immigrant from Mali.
Mr. Bathily sheltered customers at the Jewish Deli and helped police by providing info
on the terrorists, and providing the location of survivors in the deli.

I’m really starting to hate this country and what it’s becoming.
New rule: I disapprove of what you say, so I will destroy you.

Welcome to the new, fascist America.
School administrators never take personal responsibility for their decisions. It's always "ramifications" that just "happen."
“If you’re going to stand up and say something that other people will find offensive, then you need to be prepare to deal with the ramifications of that,” Superintendent Dianne Kelley told MyFoxBoston.com.

Now THAT is offensive!

Sorry, kid, having a sense of humor has recently become illegal.
Truly frightening that people think like this...and get away with it.
So even mentioning undocumented Democrats is offensive now?
Three cheers for a more tolerant future.
In other words, Sieg Heil.
Winston Smith would be proud.
This superintendent needs to be Freeped. Big time.
I don’t find it offensive at all.
Oh come now, Zeituni Onyango lived (and was protected) in South Boston, not Revere. It’s not like ALL illegal immigrants in Massachusetts are voting. < /s >
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeituni_Onyango
the half-aunt of United States President Barack Obama; she was born into the Luo tribe in Kenya...
...In 2000, Onyango entered the United States on a temporary visa to accompany her son to college; she remained past its expiration date. In 2002 she sought political asylum in the United States, citing ethnic violence, as Kenya and East Africa had suffered an escalation in violence in the 2000s.[7][8] Her case was denied in 2004. She remained in South Boston, Massachusetts, where she lived in public housing, and retained legal representation to try to gain asylum.[7]
Her case highlighted “the hot-button topic of illegal immigration” in a presidential race that had avoided it, as well as contradictory rules governing eligibility for public housing in Massachusetts.[6][9] The Massachusetts Department of Human Services investigated how her case was leaked. There was heightened federal administrative review on asylum deportations until after the 2008 general election.[6][9] Onyango’s case is often cited in light of immigration reform efforts of the Obama administration...
Margaret Wong, Onyango’s immigration lawyer since 2008, said at the time the story broke that Onyango could be barred from reentering the US for up to ten years if she left the country.[22] Wong said that Onyango needed to stay for medical care because she could not walk...
Fascist? I'd say: More like "Stalinist."
By the way, the headline ought to read: "Head Cheerleader Banned from Competing after Tweeting Comment which Some Individuals Didn't Like Because It Came Too Close to the Truth."
