Itâs a coin toss between China and Turkey for the title of least honest country, according to a new study.
As part of a 15-nation honesty study, researchers from the University of East Anglia had the 1,500 subjects participate in a coin flip, telling them theyâd get up to $5 every time it came up heads.
The researchers theorized that if the percentage reporting heads was over 50 percent, participants were being dishonest, since heads statistically shows up only half the time.
An estimated 70 percent of Chinese participants lied â the most dishonest of the bunch, according to the study.
Bringing up the least honest rear were Japan, South Korea and India, respectively, according to the study.
Meanwhile, British participants were found to be the most honest â with only 3.4 percent fibbing â according to researchers at the English university.

Communists and Islamists. What else is new?
“For a nation of pigs, it sures is funny you don’t eat’em!” - Billy Hayes (Midnight Express)
With Obama, we got both.
Some dishonest countries are not China and Turkey.
They obviously didn’t get to D.C. or any of our so-called universities.
Letting Turkey into the EU is the dumbest idea since New Coke.
Would have been better to let the Russians have it, then at least we’d have Constantinople back.
TAIWAN must be a close second................
How did they ever pass Iran and North Korea?
Lacking any sort of leaders in this country, it’s nice to know we have great role models to look down to.
I am pretty sure that the researchers had a rather more sophisticated criteria for deciding dishonesty than this.
They took the coin and ran out.
Evidently these researchers do not get the same Nigerian emails that I do.
How about the Pats?
Muslim leaders (including Odungheap) are notorious liars (Taqiyya).
That’s the stupidest test I’ve ever heard of. Who ever did this did not understand statistics.
I have never worked with Turks but definitely I concur about the Chinese being the most dishonest with business. That’s just the way it goes there. Everyone is expected to lie and exaggerate while naive westerners believe it.
As a manufacturer I have seen it many times where a bright eyed inventor asks me to produce their product. I give them a price and timeline and they balk. So they find a Chinese representative that says they will manufacture it at 10% of what I can. Within days their products will be in Harbor Freight or Wal Mart.
Is this the people, politicians or government in general?
If either politicians or government the study is wrong. Most dishonest in both of those categories is the United States of America. Most corrupt nation on the planet.
Lobbying and Politics are organized crime.
There’s some professors at East Anglia that would make the Chinese look like Honest Abe.
