Tests show Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan is now cancer-free

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced Monday that medical scans show no sign of the cancer he was diagnosed with five months ago, indicating that 18 weeks of intensive chemotherapy have put the disease into remission.

Doctors will continue to monitor Hogan (R) regularly for signs of a recurrence. But at this point, the test results are the best possible news for the first-term governor, whose battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma made him a vocal and visible advocate for cancer patients and resulted in him juggling state responsibilities with treatments that left him weaker and immuno-compromised.

"Incredibly, as of today, I am 100 percent cancer-free," Hogan said at an emotional news conference in the governor's reception room of the Maryland statehouse in Annapolis, which was packed with family members, friends, aides and well-wishers.

The governor disclosed his diagnosis at an emotional news conference in June, shortly after discovering a lump on his neck during a trade mission to Asia. He said doctors found that parts of his body were riddled with tumors, some the size of oranges and golf balls.

The news prompted an outpouring of support from people around the world, including a handwritten note from President Obama, well-wishes from politicians and residents throughout the state, and a corn maze that a Frederick County farmer carved out with Hogan's image and the phrase "Maryland is HoganStrong" -- a reference to a non-profit group established in the governor's name to raise funds for cancer research and support organizations.

An aside, Hogan needs to rid of himself of leftist creep Ron Gunzberger.

Gunzberger seems offended that NC Guv Pat McCrory is using NO REFUGEES as a fundraising point and he’s calling ISIS some queer anagram I’ve never heard before “Daesh” which some Europeans are calling them so as not associate them with the word “Islamic”. And I thought “ISIL” was bad.

A moderate Republican in a dem state utilizing reasonable dems is one thing, Gunzberger is a hardcore communist who can only bring ill on Hogan’s administration.

Acronym is what I meant, of course. From what they call themselves in Arabic. “Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham”

FWIW, I read a while back that the reason why John Kerry and some others use the DAISH (or whatever) acronym is because it sounds like an insult in Arabic.
