The war on the pink aisle continues.
The newest ad for Barbieâs Moschino doll line features a new figure for the first time ever â a boy.
âMoschino Barbie is so fierce!â the boy yells before placing a designer purse on the dollâs arm. The ad features him and two girls touting Mattelâs already popular line that includes clothes and accessories from the fashion designer Moschino.
The ad, released earlier this month, is the latest in a series of steps to remove gender from toy shopping. Target made waves this year when it decided to stop labeling toys as for boys or girls, simply using the term âkidsâ instead, while Hasbroâs Easy-Bake Oven moved to a gender-neutral product a few years ago.

“....and then a big brown shark came.” - Eddie Murphy (Delirious)
“I am probably responsible for the first Barbie in space.”
You must be a brother.
My older brother was responsible for setting Barbie’s dream house ablaze, with Barbie, Ken, Skipper, Tutti and Todd all inside.
“...to see where da bubbles come frommmmm...”
Boys NEVER played with dolls till the toy makers came up with GI Joe!
Have to admit....that one they came out with in the 70’s where you turned it’s arm and it grew boobs did kinda fascinate me.
Have to agree. Growing up in the 60's, the neighbor girl across the street was named Barbie. We began "playing" at about 14.
I know that I "played with a Barbie" off and on for several years.
Better times.
Everbody knows that Barbie comes with GI Joe.
She only fakes it with Ken ...
Someone needs to post the link to that Nissan commercial where Barbie ditches Ken for GI Joe. With Van Halen’s “Girl You Got Me Goin’” in the background.
Best. Commercial. Ever.
Van Halen's cover of the Kinks, "You Really Got Me."
Sorry, I'm a big Kinks fan. On the plus side, Ray Davies said it was a great cover. And it is one of the best covers in rock 'n' roll.
Elections have consequences.
My son spent much of his childhood tormenting his sisters by doing things to their Barbie dolls, such as putting them face down in the toilet...but he really hated the odious “Ken,” who in my opinion was probably every girl’s best gay friend. That’s okay, because a gay guy can can make wonderful friend for a woman but but he’s not a boyfriend.
I know flushing Barbie isn’t a good thing, but my son didn’t turn out to be a psychotic killer and is quite a normal Navy vet so all is well. I would have been much more bothered had he been picking out purses for his sisters’ Barbies.
Plainly. This isn’t gender-free marketing. My son has plenty of gender-free toys. This is marketing to parents who want their kid to turn out gay.
This sickens me. This is being forced on children. I have never been a Barbie fan but now it’s for a good reason.
I am a woman and when we were kids (boys and girls) we liked to take Barbies and blow them up with fire crackers.
How crude. But it’s our culture now.
Back in the day (early 60’s) my Dad would not let my younger brother have a GI Joe because it was a doll.
:)
This and man buns should do it.
