Assemblyman Luis Alejo was understandably excited that 500,000-plus undocumented immigrants received California driverâs licenses this year, thanks to his 2013 legislation.
In his exuberance, however, the Salinas-area Democrat got ahead of himself by proclaiming that because of his Assembly Bill 60, there no longer were uninsured motorists on this stateâs roads.

HOW IS IT LEGAL TO GIVE THINGS TO “UNDOCUMENTED” ALIENS??
My daughter just got her drivers license... I had to come back THREE DIFFERENT TIMES because they did nto like a COPY of the social security card, then they needed a CERTIFIED birth certificate..
Then on the third trip I got exasperated and yelled “If I was an illegal alien I would have the license by now! - How can you demand a birth certificate from a US CITIZEN, when there is no way an ‘undocumented’ alien can produce any valid ID”
Except I used more choice words...
Any real article about the ills of illegal aliens that is titled with the words “undocumented immigrants” isn’t really worth reading and accepting what it has to say.
No kidding. I was slammed in the rear by one. The illegal had a phony license and phony insurance card, a fact I found out later when my insurance company tried to use the illegal’s contact information. The cop at the accident scene HAD to know it was phony but just took the report.
My insurance went up considerably after it had to pay for the damage to my car.
Lawmakers have been struggling for decades to find ways to make sure that motorists have insurance. But if anything, there is an even greater incentive now.
Just link their License to Insurance, No Insurance, Instant Suspension, then make it a MANDATORY ARREST and 90 days in Jail for Driving on a Suspended License.
Then we need to Protect the TAXPAYERS, All persons that can demonstrate an injury or loss from an automobile accident where the Driver could not demonstrate a Legal Presence in the US, shall be entitled to fair and just compensation from the Public Employees as a whole.
Just to demonstrate the breeding ground for evil and filth is the experience one can expect from "elite" American universities.
This is a necessity for states like CA who are are proud and try to be to be magnets to illegal immigrants, it is dangerous out there.
This reminds me of Rubio, McCain and Graghamnesty lecturing us about all the taxes that illegals pay, and that its a myth that they get government handouts.....pushing their Harry Reid amnesty bill.
Without even reading the story one can see the real problem we have in this country just from the headline. An “undocumented worker” is someone who can’t remember which drawer he put his passport and green-card. An “illegal alien” is someone who entered the country illegally (duh!).
We have free press, but not a fair press, and not an honest press.
Happened to me too dropping off a cousin at LAX. Clipped my front end running a stop sign, and the cholo SOB didn’t even slow down.
“Just link their License to Insurance, No Insurance, Instant Suspension, then make it a MANDATORY ARREST”
Already a reality in the jurisdictions that care to enforce the laws. In Ga, no plates issued without valid insurance, piece of paper is not accepted, must be certified on-line by the insurance company, not from driver input. Then, if insurance is canceled, the state is immediately notified by the insurer, and the tag is revoked.
In non-sanctuary cities, the sheriff’s dept has several patrol cars with licenseplate scanners. These scanners can read every plate on the road, coming or going, AND read every plate while cruising parking lots. Cars with canceled insurance are impounded, when found, and drivers arrested if caught driving a “flagged” plate.
This is not new technology, been a mature product for more than a decade. Many police depts have this capability, but few are actually using it.
I’m the wrong person to ask about this. - My cousin & her
husband were both killed by a drunk illegal Mexican who
ran a stop sign floorboarding it. - They had little kids &
worked every day that God sent, went to church & worked on
community projects.
I held this cousin when she was a dear sleeping baby. You
don’t get over things like that.
The DMV here in mexifornia is truly absurd. 50 languages for the written test and these idiots could not even logically accept that how can you give the test in each of these leeches languages when the signs on the road are in English?
I’ve never been a fan of trying to use technology to solve a social ill, but I will give it a try anyway.
Driver’s licenses should have a chip like a credit card. Motor vehicles should have chip readers like credit card readers with a WiFi connection; if the license is suspended, the card reader will not read the suspended license. No insurance, the license gets suspended. No valid license, the car doesn’t start. In order to run, the car has to have a valid license in the card reader at all times.
This would probably cut down on car theft, too.
Would it solve all the problems? Of course not. People would figure out a way around it (borrow a valid license from a friend). But it’s a start.
The only 2 accidents I have had in a car were 2 illegal immigrats who, at different times, rear ended me in California.
One ran off, the other just kept repeating..
: no blakes!
No money!”
The “no blakes” guy ran into the back of my new Porsche, which had about 600 miles on it. If I can ever do any dirt to an illegal, I will do it.
“Just link their License to Insurance, No Insurance, Instant Suspension, then make it a MANDATORY ARREST and 90 days in Jail for Driving on a Suspended License.”
In my state if you don’t have current insurance on your vehicle they demand you provide proof or surrender your tags. They thought my insurance had lapsed and did that to me. It was a big WTF moment for sure, but I got it straightened out.
I’m sure you’ll have some comments for #15.
STB and I have discussed this issue privately.
I’ll repeat myself: Oven.
My certified birth certificate was partially torn, so I taped it. They said it was unacceptable because it was taped.
