Obama proclaims: 'We are not at war with Islam'

Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama, speaking at his summit on countering violent extremism Wednesday, sought to strike a balance between appealing for more acceptance of Muslim-Americans while emphasizing the need to remain vigilant against radicals who could turn violent.
"We are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam," Obama said during his remarks, adding later that Muslim leaders "need to do more to discredit the notion that our nations are determined to suppress Islam."
Obama went to lengths before the summit began to avoid linking extremism to the Muslim faith; his intent, aides say, was to avoid giving credence to the ideologies of Islamic State or al Qaeda terrorists.

There is a group of people, under a collective leadership, who desire our destruction, and are willing to commit their lives, their fortunes, and their not-so-sacred honor to fulfill that desire. We can either surrender, or conquer. For the sake of the future of the world, we should choose to conquer.
Let us hope that Hollande means it when he describes France's response as being pitiless, because it will not be until at least January 2017 that an American president will be willing to respond in the same way.
And one more thing: Hollande is a socialist. This, in a perverse way, is a good thing. The left, both in France and here, can't call him a right-wing nutcase cowboy who doesn't understand the inherent peacefulness of Islam, because he is one of their own. Whatever he does against ISIS, he will have a free hand.
