Democratic Ohio State Sen. Capri Cafaro said Thursday that media scrutiny of Hillary Clinton’s claim that she applied to the Marines is “a little bit sexist,” an accusation that the Clinton campaign itself has used in the past.
Cafaro said on The O’Reilly Factor that Clinton should be used to the scrutiny, but she had some trouble correctly recounting the scandals Clinton has been involved in.
“I mean, Secretary Clinton has been under the hot light of scrutiny most of her adult life,” she said. “From Watergate to Benghazi–from Whitewater to Benghazi, here is a woman whose life has been on display, and this should be no surprise to her.”
She said that the Washington Post investigation into Clinton’s claim, however, was sexist, since male candidates were not under scrutiny for similar claims.
“I do think though that it is a little bit sexist, if I may say so myself,” Cafaro said. “We’re not hearing anything about any of the male candidates who are of the age of the Vietnam War.”
“If they talked about Vietnam, then you could say that,” Fox News host Bill O’Reilly said. “It’s got to be contextual.”
O’Reilly said that it is the responsibility of journalists to scrutinize the claims that presidential candidates make.
“It’s not sexist to investigate whether Hillary Clinton did or did not try to sign up for the Marines. That’s what journalists are supposed to do,” he said.
Other presidential candidates have faced similar investigations. Republican candidate Dr. Ben Carson has come under intense media scrutiny for claiming that he attempted to stab a classmate at 14, and for saying that he was invited to attend West Point on a scholarship.
The Clinton campaign has recently come under criticism for “smearing” its opponents as sexists to their own advantage.
under the hot light of scrutiny most of her adult life
And it is self-inflicted.
If she ever spoke to a Marine Recruiter there is a record of it. All she need do is publicly allow any records of her, held by the USMC to be made public.
She also claimed she got turned down by NASA.

And if the Dem candidate was black it would be racist. See the double standard?
That you ever really applied is more than likely just another one of your lies.
I know, I know....what difference does it make now.
When has she EVER told a truth?
She’ll never allow records to be made public, the status quo gives her a two-fer. She riles up those doing the digging, working without the direct evidence, while it energizes her would-be supporters to defend her without the direct evidence. She figures that is worth many votes.
I believe that--she wore coke-bottle glasses. Clearly ineligible physically. Also, there's no record of her pilot or scientific training. Not "sexist" at all--unqualified.
It was a bald faced lie (if she’d even sent in a letter).
The link I provided account several counter arguments (with evidence) to her claim.
Did she retain this letter or just obtain a faxed copy from a kinkos in Waco?
Can’t check on Lady Pantsuit ‘cause that’s sexist. Can’t check on the Pres. ‘cause that’s racist. Can’t check on the Muzzies ‘cause that’s bigoted. I guess that only leaves the conservative Christian white males. They are free targets of opportunity.
Funny how the akways lying grifting low achievement wench cannot be criticised.
She is a liar.
Pure and simple.
I was imprecise. I think it’s a lie, as well.
But, I could see her saying, “I think I’ll be an astronaut. Why can’t a woman be an astronaut?” (Or a marine.) The obvious answer, is, “not that woman—she’s grossly unqualified,” and that answer would be obvious in 30 seconds of inspection of requirements. Any formal application would be superfluous.
Every time I hear one of Hillary’s defenders go on the Clintonian meme of ‘Old News’ & ‘That has already been investigated’, I recall her testimony(s) before various committees where she cannot recall and ‘what difference’ and other such non-answer tactics. These are lawyers well practiced in shirking and a MSM that has no interest in asking THEM tough questions!
