Ted Cruz, in an interview with Laura Ingraham was asked about his position on H1-B Visas. Ted explains his position now as opposed to his position in 2013. Cruz and Sessions are crafting legislation to reform the H1-B program and to deal with he abuses that are harming American workers.

The entire interview is excellent and the H1-B visa issue discussion begins around the 7:50 mark.

You, a Trump supporter, are asking me about trusting flip-flops? You can’t be asking with a straight face, can you?

Look, one by one, the objections some have had to Cruz are being removed. I understand why that upsets you. I’ve seen you say “a pox on Cruz”; you dislike him and will never support him, no matter what he does. So be it.

You are wrong!! Donald was evolving as he flipped-flopped from democrat to republican to democrat to republican from democrat to republican. LOL!

I guess it all boils down to how much do you trust what that candidate is saying now. There isn’t much that Cruz has changed his opinion about over the years. If he has listened to people’s concerns about this issue, did his homework and acknowledges that something needs to change then I’m okay with that.

I think what you are saying is that we have to elect him before we know the truth?

That's true of any of the candidates. But Cruz will have a chance to put his words into action over the course of the coming year.

Both Trump and Cruz had a similar view of the H1B-1 when it came to foreigners that we educated in our colleges, but then forced many of them to leave upon graduation. And both were under the impression that we had shortages of smart people in some sectors. I know that Cruz had in there that the companies needed to prove that no Americans were available.

Cruz also had some statistics on how many small businesses these foreigners started and employed locals, although I'm not so sure that is all that great when they often can get preferred status as a “minority”, which is just Crony Capitalism.

No. I like him a lot and he was my choice long before any debates etc. But other than pro-life issues the suffering American worker is paramount. We will see who ultimately rises to be the best on those issues.

No, there wasn’t one. It was a reference to the report that day. I’m sure you can find it.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I searched Union Leader, 2014 and Ted Cruz and only found a Ted Cruz statement supporting Melinda Garcia for Congress.

He said:

Cruz is really ramping up the immigration enforcement message. Interesting timing. It seems like Cruz didn’t want to “peak” too early in the process so he held back before really trying to out-Trump Trump. Or perhaps not waste these announcements during the time when the media was obsessed with Trump. Now that the Trump obsession has cooled down, he’s trying to get his share of airtime when it’s more valuable, closer to the election dates. It’s also clear he sees Rubio as a bigger threat to him than Trump and Carson, because Rubio’s rise has motivated Cruz to push back against him.

Oh, is that right?

You've accused people who promote Cruz of destroying the nation, and you said you used to support him but then you grew up.

Sounds like two different stories to me.

Doesn't matter. Your boy Trump just likened Ben Carson to a child molester. His mouth is going to be what sinks him.

He can author legislation tightening up the H-1B laws.

My analysis of the interview, tells me Cruz' proposals were at least partially intended to expose the Dems who had been begging for H1-B legislation they could support. Once offered, they refused, thus exposing their SICKENING HYPOCRISY !!!! At that point, I think Cruz' positions began shifting.

FYI, when I read about the sad state of education, I do understand that there may indeed be a need for some educated people to do some of the jobs here....STEM jobs (Science, Technology, Engineering , Math....so it's not so much for the cheaper labor, but for workers with a brain.

It's quite evident our University system isn't creating very many.

What does the law say? Ted Cruz will follow the law and work Constitutionally within the law. That is his record. For example, he stated that it is the law that a wall should have been built at the border but it was not done. He calls for following that law.

If the law is followed, the borders secured, ICE allowed to do it’s job and weak laws strengthened most of the immigration problem will take care of itself. The “deportation” word is a trap and the media love to ask it the question so they can follow up with “so you will rip families apart and separate parents and their children?”. I think Cruz realizes that it is a trap. Donald Trump may do well speaking this way but I guarantee you Ted Cruz would not.

Is it the law that someone who is here illegally is to be deported? Is it the law that illegals who commit crimes here be deported?

I don’t want to ban legal immigrants with skills we need. I just don’t want companies to replace American workers with cheap foreign labor without a stiff penalty.

What Cruz is proposing is to strengthen punishments against companies who “abuse” the H-1B visa program.

He didn’t say a damn thing about walking back his own proposed increases to the H-1B visa program. He completely avoided the question.

Let me know when we have a H-1B visa program for US Senators and he can tout his 500% increase for them.

I guess you missed the interview with Bret Bair and others today when Cruz said we need to suspend legal immigration until the illegal immigration situation is under control. That includes any visa program.

What about Ted Cruz’s past that gives you the idea that he is the type of guy to “wait and see how the winds blows”? I don’t think so.

I can agree that he may have adjusted his opinions. A lot has changed in regards to immigration the past few years as a result of Obama’s illegal executive orders and arranging for the ignoring of current immigration law. These changes require more drastic measures obviously to set things right again.

Ted Cruz is one of the rare breed of freshman senators who have actually kept their campaign promises and stood up to the corrupt Congress. What other candidate can we say that about? That is the upside of having a political record. Otherwise we DO have to wait until the person is elected to see what they will do. I don’t think we have to worry about that with Cruz.
